Ve’Lyncea, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
The mission of Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment has always been exactly that – to empower women of ALL shapes and sizes, from ALL walks of life. Sis Apparel provides everyday women with quality pieces that are fashionable yet affordable. The mission itself, the apparel, and the unique and personalized customer service allows my customers to have a sense of confidence and appreciation they may not otherwise feel when shopping online. I learned from the very beginning of launching my business that I wanted to be different from the average online clothing boutique. One of my very first customers was worried about the process of purchasing clothes online. She expressed how the clothes she normally purchased online simply never worked for her body shape. I knew then and there that she had finally found the right boutique! I assured her that I would personally work with her to make sure the pieces she chose would not only look good on her, but they would also fit well and make her feel amazing when she wore them. I have earned consistent customer loyalty, respect, and encouragement as a business owner by implementing this model of personalized customer service. Ve’Lyncea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always been a woman who loves to see other women be their best selves. I know I was born to empower and uplift women from all walks of life. From young ladies all the way to CEOs in the boardroom – and every type of woman in between. The concept of Women Empowerment is what fuels my brand and my business. My online boutique was created out of frustration. I was trying to help a friend find an outfit for an important event with no luck. It was so difficult trying to find something that was classy, affordable, and made her feel beautiful. Ultimately, Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment was born. Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment is an online boutique catering to women of all shapes and sizes. What sets my business apart from any other online boutique is thecustomer service. It is simply like no other online retail shop! Recently, Sis Apparel added a service called The Luxury Personal Shopping Experience! This service is provided to clients who want to try on apparel and get styled all from the boutique. This service changed the game as we know it. This service is currently offered in the Memphis and surrounding areas. Working since the age of 16 really helped to build and shape the businesswoman I am today. I worked in retail from about 10 years before going back to school and starting a career in corporate America at one of the biggest nonprofits in the world. Every position I’ve held and every business I’ve worked for provided me with lessons in failure, learning and growth. The knowledge I procured along the way, including failures, life lessons, learnings, allowed me to start my own business.



Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The customer service I provide for Sis Apparel is so personalized that clients truly feel like they have their very own stylist! You want your clients to feel valued and appreciated, while feeling good about what they have on. When I describe a piece of clothing or an accessory to a potential customer, I make sure to provide specific details, like if something has great stretch or no stretch – or if something runs true-to-size or runs small or large. I hand select every piece and wear ALL of the items I sell. If I wouldn’t wear it, I won’t sell it.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
There are positives and negatives to social media, but keeping in touch with clients is that much easier through various social media outlets. I am able to direct message with customers, share content that customers post on their feeds, and build my brand loyalty by creating content on my own social media platforms. I stand behind my brand and make sure that every client, every sale, and every item is providing someone with confidence and empowerment.
