We caught up with the brilliant and insightful VeeVerse a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
VeeVerse, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally, would have to be when I was 13. When I was 13 I was apart of a hip hop group with two other friends at the time. We used to record songs and put it on cassette tapes. The moment I remember to where I was really wanted to go all out with music, was when we were entered into Teen Idol contest. The day we signed up, it was a random moment. We were actually shooting basketball at this gym and seen a sign for sign ups. The day we signed up was the day we had to audition. We had no music or anything on us. We had to rush back grab music and come back an audition. When we auditioned I forgot my words and to freestyle my part. I did my freestyle so well that it went unnoticed and we went on to win the actual Teen Idol.
VeeVerse, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Im VeeVerse from Murfreesboro, TN. I’ve been creating hiphop music for almost 15 years now. I started creating music with two other friends, out of an apartment at the age of 13. Football was my first love but music definitely wasn’t far behind. I loved writing anyways, so when I added music it just came hand and hand. Now that I’m actually getting some success with my music. I think the way that I try to not just focus on one style is what sets me apart from other artists. Even though I’m a hiphop artist I listen to more R&B instead of hiphop so I can stay focus and not trying to sound like anyone else creating music. When you listen to other artist sometimes you start to drift into the way they create. The most thing I’m proud of so far in my career, is actually getting a Nashville hip hop legend on one of my songs. The hiphop legend I’m referring to is Young Buck. Currently I’m working on more music to display to my fans. Until then you can subscribe to my YouTube channel and watch my new video “WHO” remix featuring Young Buck. Also follow me on Instagram @VeeVerse to stay up to date on all my content. All of my music is currently on Apple, Spotify, & all other digital media outlets
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, I love my music. In these brand new times, this journey is not all about me anymore it’s about my family and my future. I want to be successful and do what I love to do while creating revenue to give back and provide in a greater manner.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson that I had to learn and actually I’m still learning. That lesson is not to limit your talents to one setting. Venture out to other platforms because you may have more success there than your original platform. I say this because strangers in other locations support you more than the actual town you’re in or from. I’ve gotten more love from music in other cities and people than my own hometown.
