We recently connected with Vasjan Zisi and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Vasjan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?
I’m Vasjan a club promoter, artist and A&R from Boston. I’m originally from Albania, and I was born in Greece. Moving to the US in 2018 had it difficulties as far as my language barrier, not knowing people in the music field and being in a new country that I’ve never been before. Going to school for Finance & accounting helped me build some connections and helped me develop my English language as well. School taught that if you really want something you can’t let the obstacles come in the way and stop you but you need to face them. After improving my English, making friends at school and being more open to going to events in Boston area, I was able to connect with a lot of people and realized that I had grown a big community so i started throwing my own events.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into promoting back home in Albania where i was selling tickets for different clubs in Tirana and Korca city. I was also the “president” of my class so I would throw events with the teachers at my school. Thats how i initially started.
Than a year after, God blessed me with the papers to come to the United states and when i moved here i didn’t want to stop because i loved the nightclubs and the music. However not knowing anyone here made it hard. In the US i started by dming and texting different local platforms such as blogs, podcasts & radio stations so I could be on their platform and let people know more about me. I also used to go to a lot of events to network and introduce myself to different promoters, club owners and artists. I started working for other promoters selling them tickets, vips and opening slots for artists. Than after a year or so i realised that i had a big following and real people that supported my movement so i started throwing my own events. My first event went amazing and I continued them and the successful events kept happening and the rest is history. I’m most proud of my Grammy nomination for the 2025 Grammy awards for Best contemporary blues album for “The Fury” by Antonio Vergara. Antonio, me and a lot of artists worked hard on this album and I’m so excited to be nominated and we will win this award in February. We will be praying to win and will have all our people do their part of the campaign to make sure we get this win.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My name is my brand. Therefore i always make sure that money does not define me and keep it real with my customers and friends. I think I’m a peoples person and i always try to help as much as i can. Also, I always stand on good business so if ever something goes wrong and its my fault, I take full accountability and make sure the other person gets their refund or whatever makes them happy depending on the situation.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Throwing these big events with celebrities such as Megan thee stallion, Gucci mane, Lil baby and more need a big capital. In the beginning i started with smaller artist that cost way less. I used to have an internship in accounting and i would use most of the money from it to invest in these events and most of my first events did great so that helped me to invest the profits i was making to the next events.
