We were lucky to catch up with Vasily Klyukin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vasily, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One day I started to do everything I put off until later: reading and writing books, travelling and taking adventures. I went to Venezuela and Notrh Pole, did an ice driving and Olympic bob run, reached Everest base camp by helicopter through invisible clouds, crossed Atlantic Ocean meeting storm But I didn’t feel scary trusting my guides, professional pilots etc
Once I get the top of Auckland TV tower to jump down. 200 meters of hight. It was a dead fear to step to abyss
I did it beeng in deep trance. I wasn’t ready to go down by lift saying “I can’t” to my wife. And I jumped. I couldn’t control my feelings and got a hight feat after for 2 years.
Now I’m fine, but I won’t repeat it definitely:)
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My passion was architecture and design. “How to make it works” I developed and changed new systems.
Once I did few models of my buildings and it dawned on me – I want to do sculptures.
Since that day I started to design sculptures. Each one is a very complex art piece with a multiple different angles, sometimes it’s an engineering wonder up to 5 tons or 2000 components
Edges are a my signature. From the far it’s a form, created by hundreds of edges, from up close there are mysterious spaces between deep gaps
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to develop positive emotions, creating kinda dream portals. I want to create triggers to dream, sharing beauty and positivity, inspiring people to create
I want viewers say (after bumping my art” “Oh my God, I know how to do it/I know what I want to do/ I have an idea!!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I am a creator, not a destroyer, working not to make this world perfect fictioning, but making it more beautiful Reaction of people is my gas to creators and more complex art works.
I distract people from their problems by creating a small miracle for them, and their admiration charges my inspiration and desire to create more
