We caught up with the brilliant and insightful VAR540 Entertainment a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi VAR540, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?

As a collective, we all agreed that our top priority was to invest into Self-O.N.E. & record his 2nd album “No Trophies For Second”. Each song title created for the album was written on our infamous whiteboard and had to pass a rigorous grading process. Every song selected for the project had to exceed expectations. Early in the process, we decided to release a song & music video to test the temperature of his audience. Finding out his audience had a strong women presence, we figured the 1st single “Telly” should be the record we introduce to the public. As a company, we exhausted all resources to make sure we had content ready at the time of release. Months & months of recording, mixing, marketing, promoting, shooting content, and most important ‘the brain trust meetings’ all made this project come to life. VAR540 Entertainment is a talent management and consulting firm that specializes in music and live entertainment. Our main objective is to invest in people, movements, and ideas across a wide array of platforms. Ever since we were kids, we knew that working in this industry was our path to impacting the world. A main advantage of working with us is gaining the monetary and intellectual backing that comes from our investment strategies. Clients can always distinguish the top tier quality of sound that we produce compared to others. We are most proud of being a self financed start up company that has survived a global pandemic and continues to gain momentum everyday.

The global pandemic effected our company & daily lives like everyone else. We released Self-O.N.E.’s debut album “218” on December 2019, a few months later during promotion and shooting videos, the Coronavirus shut us down. Luckily, with the Internet, we could still share our investment to the world, but major plans got shut down or delayed. While the world stopped in its tracks, we decided to keep moving forward and start a podcast that focused on music, sports, culture, and black business. Variety Always Reign Podcast went live in March 2020, during the early stages of the pandemic. The goal was to gain an audience through our knowledge, awareness, and chemistry. Super engineer, Eric of 121 Dreams, became the 4th member of the podcast along VAR540’s owners Granz, Tense, and Kevin.
