We were lucky to catch up with Vanessa Woog recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vanessa, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
One of the most important pieces of advice I offer my clients is to trust themselves and their intuition when it comes to what they need to thrive. There are countless diets and wellness trends—keto, paleo, intermittent fasting—but if something doesn’t feel right or truly work for you, it’s not the right path. I guide my clients to tune in to their own bodies, preferences, and rhythms, and to let go of the pressure to follow one-size-fits-all plans. True wellness comes from understanding your unique needs and honoring them with confidence. That’s why I focus on personalized, individualized nutrition—because lasting change happens when it’s aligned with your unique needs, lifestyle, and what genuinely supports your well-being.
When clients begin to trust themselves and follow a personalized approach to nutrition and wellness, they often experience powerful aha moments. These insights can be deeply validating—like realizing that a certain way of eating wasn’t actually serving them, or that they feel more energized when they honor their body’s natural cues. These moments of clarity help clients shed the noise of outside expectations and instead build a stronger, more intuitive foundation for their health. From this place of self-awareness and confidence, they’re able to take the next steps—whether that’s fine-tuning habits, deepening self-care practices, or making empowered decisions that support long-term well-being.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My mission at vWellness is to empower my clients to reconnect with their bodies, trust their inner wisdom, and create sustainable, nourishing lifestyles that support lasting well-being.
My journey into holistic health began from a deeply personal place. After the birth of my second child, I experienced hormonal depletion, adrenal dysfunction, and profound fatigue. Around the same time, my eldest son was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and multiple allergies. Navigating these challenges led me to seek deeper healing – exploring the transformative power of food as medicine and the importance of caring for the whole self.
What began as a personal search soon became a professional calling. Long before my formal training in integrative nutrition, I had earned a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University, where I completed nutrition-focused coursework as part of my academic foundation. Years later, after navigating my own health challenges and deepening my interest in holistic healing, I went on to earn my Integrative Nutrition and Health Coach Certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
At vWellness, I offer:
One-on-One Nutrition Coaching: Personalized nutrition and wellness sessions to address individual health goals.
Holistic Lifestyle Guidance: Practical ways to integrate nourishing foods and practices into daily life.
Workshops and Events: Seasonal cooking classes and interactive wellness workshops that foster community and empower through education.
I believe each person is the expert of their own body. While I bring professional knowledge and evidence-based tools, my approach centers on helping clients reconnect with their intuition and inner knowing. This collaborative, supportive process allows clients to make choices that feel aligned with their values, needs, and lifestyle—fostering deeper, more sustainable transformation.
What I’m most proud of is witnessing my clients reclaim their vitality and sense of agency. By creating space for introspection and honoring individual journeys, clients experience profound shifts—not just in health, but in overall well-being. My clients are a constant source of learning for me—they continually inspire me with their resilience, insights, and the unique wisdom they bring to their healing journeys.
At vWellness, there are no rigid diets or one-size-fits-all plans. It’s about honoring my clients’ individuality and discovering what nourishment looks like for them. Whether they are seeking to boost energy, manage stress, support gut health, or simply feel more balanced, I’m here to walk alongside my clients—every step of the way.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe the most important qualities for success in this field are compassion, deep listening, and self-trust.
Early on, I sometimes felt the pressure to constantly absorb the latest research, listen to every new podcast, or stay on top of every emerging trend in order to best serve my clients. While staying informed is important, I’ve learned that the real transformation happens in the space between all the information—when I’m fully present with a client.
The kind of presence I offer—by truly listening, holding space without judgment, and honoring exactly where someone is in their health journey—has been one of the most powerful tools in my work. I don’t come into sessions with a fixed agenda. Instead, I allow the client’s needs, energy, and intuition to guide the direction of our work together.
Trusting in this collaborative process, and in my clients’ innate wisdom about what they need to thrive, has allowed for deeper, more meaningful progress. Compassion, presence, and trust—both in myself and in the people I work with—have been far more impactful than any single piece of knowledge or training.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my business has been networking and offering workshops, which allow people to get to know me and experience my approach firsthand. By connecting with individuals and communities in person, I’m able to build trust, showcase the value of my services, and form authentic relationships. Workshops not only demonstrate my expertise, but also create a welcoming space for potential clients to engage, ask questions, and envision how working with me could support their goals. This personal, interactive approach has been key to expanding my reach and attracting aligned clients.
