We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vanessa Toro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?

I earned my first dollar at My very first Local Market back in December 2021. I always remember the lady who was passing by and I greet her, she stop by and start looking at my Tumblers/Cups, and many other things, she admire all of them and clearly she immediately point at one of my favorites, she bought it and told me, and I quote “Don’t Stop doing what you love, you do a great job!” since then I had participate in many Local Market and I have always good/positive people around me. which I’m thankful and bless for them.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My Name is Vanessa I’m a wife and a mom of 3 Young Adults. I love Sewing and Scrapbooking for my family. I’m a very fortunate stay at home mom, since late 90’s when my husband join the Armed Forces. Today we are almost empty nesters, we both enjoy going and participating in Local Markets. I start this amazing adventure back in December 2021 when I did my very first market. I was nervous but excited! After that we have encounter so many costumer who love my products and always complement my work in a positive way. I always strive for success finding what my costumer love, what they like because they are the reason why I’m here!

My products does vary from Custom T-shirts, Creative Funny Baby Onesies Scrunchies Tote Bags and more. I’m always looking for ways to grow and to bring some Handmade/Handcrafted local products. I also provide and offer Custom Orders as per customer requests, is so much fun to bring some one else idea to life, I enjoy working together with my clients, each one has something positive, they will bring to my small business.

I am proud of who I have become from a year ago, I have grow so much because I’m an introvert, how quickly I can adapt to a different scenarios.

What set me apart from others is my uniqueness by being me, I give them my word, explaining to them how I perform, how I am, giving them what they want. My Etsy Shop Reviews is one of my many tools I use, Customers love reviews!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

You Tube is one of the main apps I use to inspired whether it’s watching videos for fun or just to learn from other favorites crafters/bloggers and My Motivational speakers to keep me going.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

I work on custom/personalized gift, I specialized mainly in epoxy and resin, I am known for cups and T-shirts and more. I am extremely proud of how far I have pushed myself to be where I am today. When I see people/costumers happy because they have receive a product as a gift or because the just love it and bought them.
