Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vanessa Terrance. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Vanessa, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

About 2017 I started working on a natural hair care line. One day my husband says why want you start your own product line. This cane about because I asked a question about a product and had been having clients trying to figure out how to care for their hair. I started my natural journey at 30 years of age. So daily any little break I had I would run home and make up shampoo hair and leave in hair butter conditioner. I decided on a name in 2019 vivacious vibez. I decided to start working on my trademark between 2019 and 2020. Once my attorney did the search she informed me I had to change the name it was a conflict. Oh I was very disappointed knowing I had to come up with a unique name that fit my life, what I’m about and the new journey I started in July of 2019 of becoming a vegan, I search for positive “V” words and it hit me, what am I about and what’s my new love. When I saw the word Vow then thought about my organic lifestyle, that’s when I said what do I vow to do. That’s how Vowganix was created and that’s how I live and how I want others to see my name and my slogan is “vow to stay organic”.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I Vanessa Terrance, was born and raised in. I started practicing hair the summer before my 9th grade year. Got better and better. I did a lot of braids and styled my hair so people would know I do more than just braids and had a creative side of me.

I Vanessa Terrance, was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Texas by her grandmother from second grade until I graduated from David W. Carter High School. I established my career in the beauty industry with a focus on natural hair care. I attended Larry’s Barber College in Dallas, TX from 2005-2006. I received hands on training and her Barber License. I use my natural talents, hard work and dedication as I established Vowganix, LLC in 2020. Throughout my careeer I’ve gotten questions from clients about certain hairstyles or products I would recommend, there are certain products I use to use to certain styles but when it comes to a product that will protect the scalp and hair I will always choose my Vowganix or bearded your products and bearded your way came about after Vowganix because I thought the men should have protection as well as women. I wondered if people would buy products they would have to refrigerate. So I stopped thinking and started doing because if something is so natural with aloe and roses infused I believed it needed to be refrigerated and did just that. Now I have my own trademarked 2023 organic natural hair care line. Trust it wasn’t easy trying to figure out the perfect recipe but I did it and my clients love how it makes their hair feel and the results it give.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I had to use my own cash to purchase what I needed because I didn’t have business credit and was working on my personal credit. It was times where I had to sacrifice some things to purchase what I needed to make my business a success and it wasn’t easy since I was in my 20’s I stayed up late nights til 1 or 2am sometimes til it was time to almost start another client having to run home wash up and come right back with my 2 daughters doing hair and that followed as I started my hair care line trying to perfect it. But I was dedicated and determined to get it done and right for me to be able to provide a great service to my clients today.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I was always available and made sure responded to the needs of my clients. I’m ver patient because there are a lot things about hair and hair care products that most don’t know and I was able to provide those answers.
