We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vanessa St fleur a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Vanessa, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To know what it takes to be successful you’ll need to find your own definition success first. Success looks different to us all. To find what that means or looks like for you’ll need to discover your ‘why’. Your why is your ultimate goal or purpose once you know that, start mapping out your ‘how’. Your how is everything that you’ll have to do to get you to your ultimate goal.
To be successful you should have tunnel vision on your ‘why’. That is whats going to keep you motivated to be proactive and work diligently everyday because honestly you will have to put in work without seeing any reward for a long time. So it is important to keep your eyes on the prize.
There is no room for fear, laziness or indecisiveness when on the road to success. Be courageous enough to face your fears, a lot of the time the thing that we are afraid of holds the key to your success. Move with intention everyday, do at least one task a day that will help you get closer to your goal.
Don’t allow yourself to be led by motivation. There is no one who wakes up motivated everyday, instead become disciplined. When you become disciplined carrying out those task become a habit regardless on whether you feel motivated or not.
Stop waiting on perfection to start or to move on. Plan your strategies, consider all possible out comes, and execute confidently without any hesitations. If something doesn’t go as planned never panic because that will cloud your judgement. Think strategically and come up with solutions swiftly when problems come up, because they will.
Vanessa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Vanessa St fleur I’m a business owner/ Coach and content creator, originally from Brooklyn,NY. I serve my passions as the CEO of Finessa’s Luxury Hair- which was founded to provide luxury hair extensions to help women look as beautiful & confident on the outside as they do internally. We understand that a womens’ hair isn’t just hair, it’s a symbol of her femininity and a reflection of her identity. The way she chooses to wear it gives her sense of liberation. The world we live in today tries to control every aspect of our womanhood, and our hair is one of the only things we can have full control of.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to grow multiple social Media platforms with a combined of 180 K followers. The number one reason behind me being able to do that was consistency. I think I can speak for us all when I say I’m tired of hearing the cliché “stay consistent”, But the reason we had so much is because it is true. You should be posting across all of your platforms every single day. Create quality and meaningful content. Become an expert in your field and teach your audience. Also ask them questions this way you can learn who your audience is. Find and embrace what makes you and your brand different from others in your niche. Stay inspired but never copy.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Aside from the tried and true word of mouth form of marketing the best source of new clients for me has been through social media. With social media we have been able to reach a demographic that we would not be able to reach with just word-of-mouth. We have been able to even reach women all over the world, in places like South Africa, Germany and Canada.
