Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vanessa LeMaistre. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vanessa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The why for me is very important in my mission driven company. You would think all businesses are built off the structure to give back but for me it is very important to give back to help guide people on their journey. Being a healer was never my choice, things just turned out that way. When I was 21 years old a monk read my palm for free and told me that I was a shaman and that I didn’t have a choice. I didn’t even know what a shaman meant. When I researched it, I was rebellious and told myself no, what do you mean I don’t have a choice? I went off living my life. It wasn’t until I went through the beautiful yet tragic experience of my son Kamden transitioning over to the other side. He was the best and most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me but him passing was extremely difficult for me. It was on his Homegoing day that I held his body in my hands and told the Universe – Okay, I accept my calling. I never looked back since then and Kamden has truly been the guiding light for me on my journey to always follow my calling. My mission is important to me because I know that this is beyond me. I know that through bringing people a guiding light from my readings, books, or intuitive coaching sessions, I am better able to fulfill my mission as we all need guidance sometimes. Life can be challenging and a very personal experience. For me it is important to not only bring others guidance but to do so with the upmost integrity and genuine character. We are talking about people’s lives here and ethics are very important in the wellness and spiritual world.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the industry by several healers telling me that I was a shaman. The Universe is funny because had it not happened in this way, I don’t know that I would have listened to my calling. I’m originally from Miami, FL born and bred with a Haitian/ multi-raced background. I was always different and always very deep from a very young age. Growing up people kind of ostracized me because I would speak of deep philosophies :{with friends and families and others were simply not thinking like me or talking about the things I would speak about. I grew very close to God at the age of 7 when I realized I did not have a father in my life and decided that God would be my Father from that day forward. I experienced an ample amount of adversity growing up and had to learn how to cultivate a positive mindset for myself throughout the years. As I got older and heard about my calling, I willingly chose to ignore it at first. I then went on a self-love journey that I have been on for about 12 years now. And then life happened. When I decided to listen to the calling because of the gift of my son Kamden, I never looked back since. I have been through rigorous trainings in shamanism, mediumship, healing arts, etc. I began accepting my spiritual gifts and reconnecting to my roots. This allowed me to guide others through tarot readings for real life situations such as court cases, love life, career, health, etc. I also offer coaching services to help people develop their intuition. I host Divine Feminine healing circles that include power talks, manifestation, meditation, sound bowl healing, and self-confidence boosting practices. Some of the products I have are my services I offer as mentioned along with spiritual cleansing services and shamanic drum journeys as a meditation. I sell intention candles, intention spiritual sprays, I’m starting a merch line which will include hats, sage bundles and tote bags that will launch this winter. I’ve also recently published my book that I worked on for 10years called Believe in Your Soul. This book is about overcoming obstacles and believing in your soul- the part of you that resides deeper than your ego’s concept of self. It’s about not only believing in yourself when challenges arise in life but also whenever you want to do whatever it is that you want to do as long as you are not harming anyone or yourself. Believe in Your Soul is part memoir and a nonconventional self-transformational book. Each chapter ends with positive affirmations and I channel my son Kamden throughout various parts. This book is created to help you love yourself more on your unique self-love journey. What I think sets me apart from others is because I am not in competition with anyone and I fully believe in my personal autonomy, how I do everything is different. From how I connect with my Spirit Guides and Ancestors during a reading to how I write my books which are all channeled by the Universe when I sit down and write. I am not looking to be like the next healer or the next author, I am just looking to live 100% fully in my purpose and mission in life and to do so with my best ability and full potential. I am most proud of completing big projects that I know are based on positive impact. Such as my book Believe in Your Soul as I worked on it for 10 years. The amount of blood and sweat that went into the book makes me appreciate it more because I could have given up but I kept pushing. I am also very proud of how I handled the transition of my son Kamden. I allowed him to be the catalyst and gift in me always knowing my mission and staying true to why I am here on this blue and green planet. I also feel grateful that he was the catalyst for me diving into a nonprofit project I did a few years ago where I focused on bringing children’s books to underprivileged kids along with teaching them how to meditate. Lastly, I am also proud of my dedication and determination to always follow my truth and never give up on what my north star knows it came here to do. The main things I want my potential clients and fans to know about me and my brand is that I am here for them and I don’t b.s. in my readings and services. I keep it a buck. That is the only way we actually grow. SoulXO is an energy, not just a lifestyle brand. We are here to cultivate your inner goddess/god and guide you along your path of self-love and self-transformation. Lastly, I have a new self-love journal book releasing in 2024 that I am very excited to share with the world. I am now selling evil-eye gold plated jewelry and when it clmes to my services can you please add that I also am a motivational speaker. (I sometimes speak to students about believing in themselves, etc.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I often run into non-creatives that may be skeptical about the work that I provide. I hear it all from the bible beating Orthodox Christians who don’t understand how you can love God and do tarot to millionaire clients who do not understand why they should pay for spiritual services. I hear people say that they are scared to get a reading because they don’t want to know the truth and I hear others who simply think this type of wellness is too “woo woo.” In terms of these constant struggles from non-creatives that I may run into, I have the following to say: 1. To the bible beating Christians who feel they are doing God’s work by questioning tarot, do you even know what the tarot is? It is an ancient and wise divination system that has been used for thousands of years to help bring guidance to people facing problems. Everyone has problems, some are bigger than others. This is a divination tool used to help bring solutions. Just because someone does tarot, does not mean they are worshiping the devil. It is usually done by lightworkers and people that genuinely want to help give to others from the purity of their hearts and who are called to do this good work. And please remember that God is love, and God does not judge. 2. To the millionaires who expect spiritual work to come for free- this is how you will end up in karmic debt and with bad karma. Spiritual work is a very real service where an energy exchange is needed. We live in a monetary world where money is something people need to survive and be sustainable. Please do not ask a spiritualist for a discount or a free service, especially if you have the money to pay for a car and a home, etc. Of course the spiritualist needs an exchange for their services and most will ask for a monetary exchange of their gifts because we also need to survive and be sustainable. This also allows our work to be better if we are not worrying about how will we pay our bills. This is also a form of respect. Would you go get your car serviced and ask for a free oil change? It’s the same thing. It is an exchange and a sacred one at that. 3. To the non-creatives who are scared to hear the truth. This is a false sense of control. When it comes to readings, it’s true, I would suggest to not put all of your eggs in one basket and take in everything you think you have heard. But instead to rather be open to receive what resonates and leave what doesn’t. Especially if you felt called to get a reading in the first place. There is a reason your Spirit Guides have led you to be curious about a reading to begin with. We all have Spirit Guides and ancestors that want the best for us on our journeys. They are simply here to guide you to your personal evolution for your highest good. Running away from the truth helps no one. We can only change and improve what we know we need to change. Guidance is based off of truth. I challenge you to take courage and faith the truth within your journey and not live with rose colored glasses because this is how transformation and growth happens. Lastly, to the non-creatives who think spirituality/tarot is too “woo woo”, whatever rocks your boat, dude. I always suggest to have an open mind because you never know what you might learn. XO
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal and mission for me that is driving my creative journey started when my beautiful son Kamden transitioned. His birth came and brought me life. I knew what my mission was but I didn’t follow and pursue it until Kamden came and transitioned. This was a big wake up call for me to come here and do with this allotted time we are blessed with, what we are supposed to do. My mission is me committing to God/ the Universe/ the Creator/ Source Energy. We all have something inside of us to do here- a task if you will. Some people, it is to be the most amazing mother you can be, others it is to be a human that is genuine and teaches others through your humble actions. For me, it is to guide others with my spiritual gifts. A favorite quote of mine from Napolean Hill’s Law of Success states “There is some one thing that you can do better than anyone else in the world could do it. Search until you find out what this particular line of endeavor is, then organize all of your forces and attack it with the belief that you are going to win.” This quote by Hill motivates me because it is him stating that there is something that only you can do that no one else can do better than you, so focus on that. My goal and mission is to help inspire as many people as possible in this world. My goal is to inspire with spiritual guidance and positive impact. This drives my creative journey and knowing that we are only here for a short period of time so we might as well make the very best of what we’ve got within us.
