Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My mission statement:
At The Esthetics Wiz, my mission is for my clients to receive more than just any treatment. It’s my goal to build trusting & long lasting relationships with every client. I listen to each of your needs, educate you on the best treatment options & am dedicated to providing a solution. I take immense pride in providing customized & corrective treatments. Meaning no two treatments being the same. Knowledge & creativity is key to The Esthetics Wiz, from developing a protocol for each treatment, to making sure each client receives a transformative, personalized treatment each time. Each client is provided with not only a relaxing, results driven treatment, they will also receive skincare knowledge to guide them through their journey, product recommendations for the simplest or most extravagant routine, & samples tailored to their skin. ​

Reasoning my behind my mission statement:
As the Owner of The Esthetics Wiz, I am fully committed to achieving my goals and maintaining my values. I feel without my mission statement, there is no direction to take my business. My clients are what drives me each and every day. Everything is tailored to the client, making each visit unique. I use my mission statement as a guide in my day to day activity, reminding myself with every decision I make, I strive for the wellbeing and positive results for my clients.

Hi! My name is Vanessa, owner of The Esthetics Wiz, an Award-Winning Custom & Corrective Skin Bar in Virginia Beach, Virginia. ​I wanted to start The Esthetics Wiz, because as a child, teenager, & adult I’ve dealt with acne, cyst, eczema, you name it. I became obsessed with trying to heal my skin while unknowingly absolutely destroying it with stripping acids every day. In comes esthetics school! I became a Master Esthetician while transforming my own skin. I found a passion in treating skin condition & educating others on skincare. In comes my business! Since starting my business in February of 2023, one of my biggest achievements has been being awarded Best Esthetician in The East Coast by my favorite skincare brand, Meaux Co.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

I believe my most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth. This is why I believe in making each persons experience unique at The Esthetics Wiz. I cater everything towards the client from the in-depth consultation, to the custom treatment catered towards their skin type/conditions, all the way to their personalized home skincare routine that is given. When a client see’s results, but also feels taken care of, they not only come back, but they tell their family, friends, leave reviews, etc.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Recently I got into a car accident, broke my wrist, had to have surgery, and have titanium placed in my wrist. As someone who makes a living off both of their hands, this was detrimental. I had to pivot, temporarily closing my business and simply heal. Thankfully I have one the best support systems I could have ever asked for. It was extremely tough to get through, but I’m eleven weeks post surgery, one week back at work, and have never felt more confident in my small business.
