We were lucky to catch up with Vanessa Gold recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Vanessa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
Writing about my current employer will probably sound sycophantic, but in my experience working in New York, Miami & Los Angeles at a variety of studios and agencies I can say, Bryan Grant stands out as an example of what it truly means to be a great boss, a visionary and mentor. Under his leadership, our employees find themselves empowered, motivated, and confident in their abilities. He recognizes the importance of fostering a positive work environment, one in which creativity is celebrated, innovation is encouraged, and collaboration is paramount. It is this supportive atmosphere that has led his team to achieve unprecedented levels of success. I find his leadership is rooted in the belief that personal and professional growth go hand in hand. His commitment to mentorship extends beyond the workplace, as he encourages his team to strike a balance between work and personal life, promoting a culture of well-being that is unparalleled based on what I’ve seen in my past work environments. Bryan is an approachable and supportive boss.

Vanessa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I currently work at Bryan Grant Studios as a Senior Producer in Los Angeles, CA. We specialize in best-in-class motion graphics and animation. We work on a variety of projects such as film titles, entertainment trailers & logos (movies, tv shows & video game properties), CGI product films, tv commercials, social media campaigns, and creative development and strategy for our clients worldwide. Some of these clients include: Marvel Studios, Netflix, Microsoft, David Copperfield, CBS, NBC, ABC, ESPN, NFL, TikTok, Nike and many others. I manage internal teams, all of which work remotely, ensuring we stay on schedule and on budget for our clients and for our own profitability. Some of our greatest strengths is our ability to adapt instantly to production curveballs, while keeping the train moving. The greatest thrill is working with some of the best creatives from all over the globe.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I always want to be part of projects that are innovative, impactful, and fun to work on. Who wouldn’t, right? One of my main goals is to create a daily environment that is transparent, supportive and collaborative amongst my creative teams, and clients. There are a handful of studios that can create beautiful work, but for me it’s hyper critical that the process for our clients is as flawless as possible. When you have harmony amongst your teams I find that your clients and collaborators take notice and feel that higher level of service.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
One of the best ways to gain new clients is to cultivate and nurture the ones you already have. The clients for whom you’ve already earned their trust through multiple projects are the same people who will be willing to share their praises over you and your work. Also, with so many of us working remotely I’d highly recommend taking advantage of going to industry events. Being face to face with fellow colleagues and potential clients is an excellent, and personal way to connect with people, share ideas, and get your name top of mind for their next project.
