We were lucky to catch up with Vanessa Freeman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I picked up Photography as a hobby about thirteen years ago. At the time I was pursuing a career in the beauty industry as a makeup artist, and hair stylist. working in this field sparked my creativity in many ways. I was living in Miami, FL at the time, my hometown (among others). Miami is filled with creative talents, and it’s very inspiring to see. I think being in this environment had a lot to do with the direction my life took, pursuing a creative field. It didn’t take long before my Photography hobby transitioned into my life’s passion. I started with Portrait Photography, while still juggling hair and makeup. I decided to focus solely on Photography, because I found it more challenging, and felt it required more of my time and energy. I created Blissful Studios Photography and gave it my all. Persistence is key. Life blessed me with my daughter seven years ago. the first few years I dedicated my entire being to my daughter. Photography took a back seat for a while. But I got back to it as soon as I could. My main focus in the last 4 years has been Wedding Photography and Elopements. Since moving to Colorado, I’ve had the opportunity of capturing some truly beautiful weddings. I’ve also had the chance to capture some really magical and intimate elopements, which led me to my new goal- to focus more on Elopements.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m currently a Wedding and Elopement Photographer. I work very closely with my clients which is why it’s so important for me to establish trust with them. I want them to feel like they’re in good hands, so they feel more comfortable following my guidance on the day of their wedding. This will help assure their wedding photos are everything they dreamed of and more. My Photography has evolved into a storytelling style. I love capturing the in-between moments, raw emotions, those candid moments. But I also make sure to capture the more traditional poses, to assure my client has a good variety to choose from. I love color, even though I wear a lot of black lol. My photos emote emotion, are vivid, and true to color with a softness to them.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by my desire to be my own boss, to work flexible hours, to have time to just be. I’m a mother before anything else. This career has allowed me to stay home with my daughter and homeschool her. I also find it of utmost importance to have time to just be, to enjoy hobbies, to be out in nature, to read as much as you can, to nurture your soul. My creativity has allowed me to live life on my own terms.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I don’t know much about NFTs, but I’ve recently started to explore AI generated art. Even though it’s worrisome for a lot of creatives, it’s also a very exciting medium to learn and explore. Change is inevitable, especially when it comes to technology, and we need to find ways to benefit from new technologies, and potential profit from them.
