We recently connected with Vanessa Drew and have shared our conversation below.
Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
In 2005, I took a big risk by opening my first colon hydrotherapy clinic in a basement under the health food store where I worked in Brooklyn. I ran the business alongside my ex-boyfriend, and as the business grew, we grew apart. By 2008, I made the difficult decision to leave him, move back to my family, and start over. At that time, I wasn’t sure if I could run the business on my own, but I pushed forward and launched my own studio, Cleansing Concepts. Nearly 20 years later, I now have four locations and a successful online business selling detox clay products. It was a risk because I had no formal business training, but my passion for helping people drove me—and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing ever since.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
.My name is Vanessa Galati Drew, and I’m 44 years old, living in Holmdel, New Jersey. I’ve been in the wellness industry for almost 20 years, and over that time, I’ve opened four brick-and-mortar detox wellness studios. Our services include hydrotherapy, lymphatic drainage, detox foot baths, infrared saunas, ozone therapy, steam saunas, and more. I’ve also developed my own line of detox clay products and recently had the honor of being a guest on several podcasts, which has greatly helped raise awareness for my brand.
I’m incredibly proud and grateful to have served so many clients over the years. I’m especially thankful for the support of my amazing staff and my family, who have stood by me through thick and thin. For me, staying true to myself, following my heart, and focusing on helping one client at a time achieve their wellness goals has always been my guiding principle. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves, and for the past two decades, I’ve been helping people do just that.
This work is my gift to the world, and I dream of expanding with studios across the country to help even more people experience the life-changing benefits of detox therapies. These therapies are no longer a luxury; they are a necessity for living a healthy, abundant life. We’re all constantly exposed to toxins from the products we use and the food we eat, and it’s my mission to bring awareness to this and create a movement that helps people take control of their health.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Like many businesses, I was forced to close my brick-and-mortar locations due to COVID-19. Ironically, I had just opened my fourth studio in New York City just before the pandemic hit. While at home during lockdown, I started brainstorming ways to continue helping people. That’s when I decided to focus on my detox clay products, promoting them online so others could experience the health benefits I had personally seen.
Detox Clay , is unique, and with the ability to ship it nationwide, I was able to reach far more people than I could through my physical studios alone. While I’m still running my wellness facilities and continuing to serve many clients in person, the online platform has
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Customer service, authenticity, honesty, and fair pricing have always been at the core of my business. I’m deeply grateful to God for the opportunity to serve others, and I strive to reflect that gratitude in everything I do. I keep my facilities spotless because I believe that a clean, welcoming space is essential to the healing process. We offer the highest quality services at affordable prices, so people can continue their detox journey and improve their health without worrying about the cost.
Growing up, I didn’t have much, and that experience shaped my desire to help others in meaningful ways. I am blessed to have clients who have been with me for 20 years, and I’m grateful for the new faces who come in, appreciative of the services we provide. It’s not just about the treatments, but the genuine customer service, support, and the strong, friendly relationships we’ve built over the years.
My sister works with me as well, and I believe our clients truly feel the compassion we bring to our work. We pay attention to every detail, treating each person with the care and respect they deserve. Our clients become like family, and for that, I am truly thankful. Every day, I thank God for this gift and the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of so many
