Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vanessa Diaz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Very good question! Hi my name is Vanessa Diaz owner of Beauty by Mrs.Diaz. Am I happier as a business owner? Yes! 100%yes! I do also think about what it would be like if I would of stayed at my previous regular 8-5 job and let me tell you I would of not been a happy camper! I was in the dental field for almost 20yrs and all though I love the concept of helping patients not only having a healthy mouth but overall the ideal smile the they dreamed of. But the sometimes it’s not easy working with people. Unfortunately in my experience there are not good bosses out there anymore. There are bosses that don’t appreciate their staff or even their own clients. And ofcourse a business is a business right! But you need to have ethics and morals in any business. I was tired of not feeling appreciated, I wasn’t even getting a good job Vanessa! And mind you I use to sell over $50,000 worth of dental treatments. I honestly got tired of making money for someone else. My last 8yrs in rhe dental field I was managing dental offices, so yes I learn a lot when it came to the business. And I took everything the good and the bad and implement everything that I knew into my own business. Never in a million years would I have thought to own a business! And let me tell you it’s the best decision I ever made. I had a conversation not that long ago with one of my clients because she actually told me that she seems me really happy and at ease with ehat I do know. And I said to her yes I am. I work so at peace, just me and my clients. My focus is to make my clients comfortable, happy, want them to leave my studio with a smile and know they had a great experience because ofcourse my focus is to retain all my clientele. I myself also focus and have to be responsible with the administration side of the business. You do need to have alot of self discipline which what the goal is to continue growing. So again am I happy as a business owner 100% yes! Don’t let fear stop you from creating the future you desire.

Vanessa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Again my name is Vanessa Diaz owner of Beauty by Mrs.Diaz. I’m a PMU Artist and a Licensed Esthetician. I started in the Beauty Industry 4yrs ago by simply taking a Lash Training. To me it was going to be my side hustle which ofcourse I turned this side hustle into a business. After a year of lashing I took a Brow course and started to do Powder Brows, and why? Because my own lash clients would asked me if I knew anyone who did brows? And or other services. If my answer was no they would tell me this… “Well Vanessa you should learn so we can just get done everything wih you!” You know what that told me? Is that they trust me! And that’s how I was able to up sell and make more profit. Now I have a service menu, I do lashes, facials, wax, permanent makeup, body treatments. And I also have a Lash Course. I personally think that you need to think big in order to grow, and I’ve always been this way I don’t like to feel comfortable. You need to make daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals! Create a business plan and care for your business and your clients.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes my side hustle turn into a full time business! And again never your I have thought it would be possible but I saw the potential. Money, the earnings I was making while lashing at the beginning is what made me realize this service really pays off. Women will definitely invest in themselves to look beautiful! When it comes to starting a business you need to have a business plan. You need to see all aspects, do I have clients, how do I market, how do I promote, how and where do I order my supplies from, or what brands am I going to use etc. To even how much am I charging for my services, and you need to know all this before you start. There are alot of things I wish I could have done differently at the beginning but we learn as we go. Even know going into 4yrs with my business I am still learning and you never stop learning. They key is to continue to hustle and always remember why you started in the first place.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
To me my clients are my #1 priority why because if yoh don’t have customers you have no business. One of the most important is for my customers to be happy woth my services and the experience they will have at my studio. I want them to feel safe, relaxed, pampered why because they deserve it. Customer service the key. You want your customers to leave with a future scheduled appointment! Pre-schedule! And if they do scheduled is because they want to definitely come back. Connect and get to know your clients is also very important. I create a trust with my clients, very important when it comes to brand loyalty.
