We recently connected with Vanessa Caswell-Rodgers and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Vanessa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I Am She Memphis was founded by Vanessa Caswell-Rodgers after she realized her passion and purpose for mentoring. I Am She Memphis mentor young girls in areas of navigating through difficult situations and pushing them to pursue their dreams and goals. Our pivot point focus aims toward self esteem, financial literacy, ACE’s, sex trafficking, dress attire, dining etiquette and community engagement.
Vanessa was once a woman struggling with her mom passing her and her twin onto their grandparents. Mom wasn’t able to physically and emotionally care for them. Vanessa’s trauma came then but knew one day she would overcome that obstacle and be able to stand tall and tell her story while inspiring others. It has did exactly that. After learning about ACEs and the effect it has on the overall family, she understood how much this program was needed and for her to become trauma trained and certified. She’s equipped to go and trained others on ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experience).
In September 2018 Vanessa then started writing the vision and now she’s observing it come into manifestation. I Am She Memphis Squad and Vanessa now are an inspiration to many. The Squad now are running with their boots on the ground and requested by many families organizations. Going into entities, inspiring , encouraging and uplifting young girls.
