We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Valorie Brady. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Valorie below.
Hi Valorie, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My story began when I was 17 years old. I have always been a girly-girl, and had a passion for hair, and beauty. From hair, makeup, clothes, and accessories. Since High School I would ask for the support of all of my cheer squad members and classmates to support my hair business – and the rest is history. Now 7 years later my now thriving beauty business allowed me to invest into my real estate endeavors. My family has always had an extensive real estate portfolio, which I grew passionate about at an early age. From flipping and renovating houses to purchasing rental properties, I was able to get first-hand knowledge of the industry as a young girl.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Honestly, after months of research and years of passion I was able to learn how to create my logo, website, and business cards, all while teaching myself how to do makeup. Finding a great vendor was a challenge as well due to lack of knowledge in the industry at the time. We did not have resources such as Tik Tok and YouTube, like we do now. But, after a year of trial and error, grit and tears I was finally able to create my dream that is now Sincerely VK. The services I provide include, full wig constructions and styling, makeup services and classes, I now provide courses and e-books that allow me to teach others to do what I do. Due to the quality of my products, I am able to save my clients money in the long run because they won’t have to buy another wig for at least 3 years. That’s something most stylists can’t say or do. I’m what you call a “One-stop-shop”. I am most proud of my customer service, quality, and overall luxury experience. I don’t look at my clients as just customers, rather they are my “sisters”, as I was the only girl in an all-boy home. Which is why I send everyone home with a handwritten letter of a message that comes from the heart, after their appointment and sign it “Sincerely VK”
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Absolutely! I started off doing makeup and selling hair on the side in college. Once I realized I was making more money doing my side hustle it became my main hustle and I left school and never looked back. It was the best decision I ever made.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep up with my clientele on social media, email blasts, and networking events. I think it’s important to support other businesses to receive that same love in return.
