We recently connected with Valery Martinez and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Valery thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
In 2017 I enrolled in a beauty school. I previously attended in 2013 a makeup artistry school in Coral Gables, FL. But as my artistry grew I became more interested in skin care I figured that makeup is just the top layer of your skin but their is no glow, like your own skin glow. I wanted my business to catch all that I loved about beauty industry not just makeup so I named it FacebyvaleryM.

Valery, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Valery Martinez, I’m Miami makeup artist. I have always had a secret passion for makeup once I graduated high school I decided to enroll in a beauty makeup school to become a professional makeup artist.
Once I graduated I started working for Sephora and makeup teams, now a couple of years later I have my own hair and makeup team that caters to special occasions & events.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Everyday I think is a new challenge, being an entrepreneur and figuring out everything your self to build structure and disciplined is something you have to have resilience for on the daily.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I have unlearn that you can’t have everything figured out, you can only structure your business better as you go on and build experience only then you can begin to perfect your craft and work,
