We were lucky to catch up with Valeriia Sibirtseva recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Valeriia, thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
After graduating from university, I started working in banking on a 5/2 schedule. However, at that time I realized that my life lacked creativity and creativity. Thanks to the support of people close to me, I was able to change my life and get closer to my dream. I worked both as a full-time illustrator in studios, doing regular, standard tasks, and on freelance, where I constantly struggled to find that one order! Each time I stayed in one place, I dreamed of another. Looking back, I’m grateful for all the opportunities my job gave me: for the experience, feedback and confidence. To this day, I cannot unequivocally answer the question of what is more important to me: a stable income or the opportunity for unlimited creativity and self-realization. However, I can confidently say that it is important to explore different paths and use all the opportunities that fate sends. The most important thing is to listen to yourself, understand where and how you feel comfortable working, and enjoy life!

Valeriia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have loved everything bright and positive since childhood! I used to draw all the time, went to art school, but for some reason in my 18 years I decided to become a master of economics. Despite this decision, 5 years ago I realized that I wanted to connect my life with creativity, and that very evening Adobe Illustrator was downloaded on my laptop! When I was able to make my first dollar through digital illustration, I realized that anything is possible! I now create bold and colorful vector 2D illustrations! For a long time I worked in a stock studio creating commercial illustrations, and at the same time I discovered the world of NFT! I have received incredible feedback and support, and more importantly, met many talented like-minded people! My work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the meta-universe, and most importantly, my work has been shown at the most popular NFT show in New York City! Also, my bright and colorful illustrations can be found in the mobile game “Gallery: Coloring and Decor”. I maintain my own small YouTube channel where I show my drawing process and plan to record video tutorials on drawing vector graphics! I want to show everyone that vector art is easy, fun and affordable! Vector graphics is very flexible without losing quality, and it is possible to create a whole brand from one small illustration!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Even though I took a long break from NFT, my life changed a lot after I got there. I started painting more for myself, I met a huge number of wonderful artists! I’ve met wonderful people from all over the world! And everyone is really unique in their own way! It’s a whole new world! I am sure that with the development of society and technology, more people will hear about NFT and very soon we will see new talented artists! I am by no means saying that traditional art will disappear and everyone will forget about it, no. I just think that in 10 years a big digital world will be waiting for us, where artists will feel real creative freedom, financial independence and will discover new opportunities in their profession! NFT is about regularity and progression, it’s a job that has no boundaries for your imagination!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Although it may seem obvious, one of the most rewarding parts of working as an illustrator is the feedback and reviews from my clients. Seeing their happy looks or reading enthusiastic messages about my work is an invaluable experience that confirms that my creativity brings joy and inspires others. Although it may seem trivial, I have realized that nothing is impossible in this life. The key is constant practice and perseverance to achieve your goals. And how great it is to compare my progress and see improvements! It encourages me to strive for even higher standards and achievements!
