We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Valerie Zhang a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Valerie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At VX Media, we stand out by offering a unique approach to our full 360° creative services. Our skilled production team handles creative direction and content editing, while our efficient PR team manages brand partnerships and talent relations. The combination of such expertise allows us to deliver diverse, high-quality content for big-name brands. Recognizing the challenge of cutting through a crowded digital landscape and saturated social media feeds, we leverage the tech and data expertise of our founding team—70% of whom have backgrounds in tech, software engineering, and data science. This allows us to craft data-driven, strategic content production and influencer marketing campaigns that go beyond the industry norm resulting in exceeding KPIs and client satisfaction.

I’m Valerie Zhang, Co-Founder and Creative Director of VX Media. With a background in data science and a passion for content creation, I founded VX Media in 2022 to merge my skills and interests. VX Media is a full 360° creative agency, specializing in influencer marketing, talent management for creators over the globe, social media consulting, and content production for advertising campaigns. Despite being such a young agency, we’ve already partnered with more than 400 leading fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands, including brands under L’Oreal and LVMH like Kiehl’s, Maybelline, Hugo, Dior Beauty, Marc Jacobs, and Tiffany & Co, tech companies like Cash App, brands under Deckers like UGG, etc. Our work focuses on creating social-first strategies and content that help these brands stand out in a crowded market.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before founding VX Media, I worked as a data scientist. While the career was rewarding, I wanted to combine my STEM background with my passion for content creation and creativity. That’s how VX Media was born and I couldn’t be happier to be working with such an amazing team and exciting brands.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I always emphasize the importance of consistency and community building. By consistently posting content and growing your platform, you increase the chances of reaching a wider audience, which leads to growth. As your platform expands, it’s crucial to appreciate every follower and actively foster a sense of community, as genuine support can be hard to come by.
