Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Valerie Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Valerie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

Although I love working as a social worker, I realized early on that I yearned for a more creative environment for myself. After several months of creating floral arrangements which I did enjoy doing I saw a cherry blossom tree and knew that would be my very next challenge. When I saw my finish tree, my mind exploded. I thought how beautiful is this – I then realized what my true passion was. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I decided this is what I wanted to do. This is where the adventure begins. I would design and create amazingly gorgeous cherry blossom trees for the world to enjoy. Taking a leap of faith, trusting God and knowing he would carry me along this journey as promised I became a black/ woman owned small business many would know as “Exotic Blossoms by Val”.

Valerie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

While creating my trees my heart flutters, like a butterfly fluttering its wings. The love I truly put into every branch on the tree is displayed on the finish tree which is full of exquisiteness. As fate would have it, Exotic Blossoms by Val is my new love and has brought an array of beauty to many special events, homes and corporate businesses. I couldn’t set down the inspiration for my love to create, so in spite the beginning challenges that come with a small business. I had already started a small office where I was learning fast. I promised myself that I would never look back rather trust in the leap of faith I took and know that God will make this a dream I never awaken from.

Exotic Blossoms by Val custom foliage instantly turns any space into a gorgeous enchantment atmosphere. Exotic Blossoms by Val is continuously approached by wedding, special event, and corporate Event Planners to rent our beautiful silk life-like faux trees. All trees are custom made from real tree bark from the mountains to add the true look of an outdoor tree. Exotic Blossoms by Val is very excited to be in high demand for our beautiful cherry blossom trees for your home and office.

A few of my proudest creative experiences were being apart of Hacks 2 HBOMAX season finale episode, seeing my trees on the big screen was mind-blowing. I often rewatch that episode to remind myself that my dreams are coming true. Another proud moment was designing cherry blossom wedding trees for the Celebrity-Filled Black Tie Wedding Featured Live Performances From Music Royalty Ashley Lewis (who is the daughter of both Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Terry Lewis and R&B legend Karyn White). I must add having Exotic Blossoms by Val mentioned in Essence Magazine and Munaluchi Bridal Magazine was truly an honor as well I must say.

I truly love designing/ and creating elegant timeless cherry blossom trees for anyone be it a celebrity, television series, local business establishment or just someone who have come across my tree catalog on my Website, Instagram and TikTok where they fell in love with one of my tree designs. My passion and love to create is poured over every client’s despite status and order quantity. Exotic Blossoms by Val take pride in seamlessly blending sophistication with intentionality. I truly become tunneled, having a meticulous eye for detail with passion for a flawless execution. Rooted in gratitude, I bring gratitude to my clients’ and vision to life with artistry and grace.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My creative journey goals are focused on personal growth, skill development, and achieving specific artistic milestones. I yearn learning a new technique, developing a signature style the world would identify as artistry of Exotic Blossoms by Val.

Another goal/ and dream come true opportunity would be me receiving a call to create trees for the awesome series of Bridgerton. Having the team from creators Shonda Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen reach out would “blow my socks right off my feet” LOL. Would be a true honor to create for my favorite television series.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Receiving unforgettable tears and smiles of my clients viewing their finished creations.
