Working at Local Farmers Market here in Austin Texas really gives you an Intimate relationship with your customers.
Our organic baked goods (made from scratch breads, fried pies, cookies, cakes, tortillas and pizza crusts are made with 100% organic grain spelt flour which is easier to digest than all purpose flour. Our baked goods are also vegan and nut free.
Customers are always giving feedback and ideas and I’m always listening to weather I should apply any of the ideas to our business. Receiving feedback on social media (Instagram) helps spread the word about cleaner eating.
Our customers range from single households to families and children are a big part of local creative edibles.
My daughter helps me set up a kids corner in my booth. A place for kids to draw, color or read books while their parents /caregivers shop.
I received a custom made thank you card from returning customers who are sisters ages 6 and 4 . Their parents worked a booth at the market. Their card really filled my heart. It said “Thank you so much for being so NICE to me and my sister! (See photo attached) meeting so many families at the market and eager to hear returning customers tell me what they prefer and how I can custom their orders to their likings and allergies.
When I first started catering 15 years ago) and the Bride asked me to make a special order for her mom , she was the only person attending who was gluten free. I made her two different desserts and packed them up in gift boxes. The feedback was heartwarming. Her mom was so surprised that her daughter had mad a separate order just for her and that she was able to eat dessert with everyone else and not worry about allergies.
Being a home cook and baker, cooking organic fresh meals daily for my husband and daughter is the foundation of local creative edibles. I treat my customers the way I feed my family here at home.
Valerie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
In my mid 20s I was a alcoholic and hit rock bottom. I decided to get sober and change the direction my life was going.
I really indulged into food. I loved eating already so it wasn’t hard for me to feel comfortable with food, where it comes from and how or bodies react to different process of food.
I started to work for people who Owen their own business. Observing and learning life lessons.
My grandfather owned his own grocery store when I was a kid to a young adult and my stepfathers family owns a famous local restaurant here in Austin Tx. So I’m use to that environment of catering to people.
I taught myself the basics on how to bake and cook from people already succeeding.,books Tons of trial and error. Succeeding and failing was the normal while I was learning what style cooking I preferred and that it was important to provide healthy nostalgic meals and sweets for my family.
Part of what makes me proud of local creative edibles is that manufacturing is always on a micro level.
Fresh clean ingredients made in a small volume. Made with love and care by one person, no big machines and preservatives .
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
