Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to VALERIE LEVINE. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi VALERIE, thanks for joining us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
I successfully brought the art of roller skating to New York City nightlife back in 2012 to Webster Hall’s circus party on Saturday nights. That kind of job did not exist for roller skaters at the time. But the help of Jehan Kamal recommending me, we made it happen!
VALERIE, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am unique in the way that I do a lot of styles under the skating and dance umbrella professionally… I’m a professional figure skater, Rollerskater, Belly Dancer, Ballroom/Latin dancer, and Brazilian Samba dancer. I’ve done other disciplines as well, including fire dancing, mermaiding, modeling, aerial arts… The list goes on. I started my training in dance at the young age of four. At 3 and 1/2, I had already put on some rollerskates! The rest is history and quite lengthy.
I now have a company called Valerinadance that provides entertainment for events. My bio is listed on my website www.Valerielevine.com.
I am most proud of my unique style, and my ability to combine all of my passions, and to make it into different successful careers. I still currently perform, and teach all of the above disciplines!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped me build a good reputation in my work market? Being reliable, dependable and easy to work with, will help you develop a good reputation in any business… Including my own! I tend to possess leadership qualities, and I think that also help me along the way, but the most important is to be easy to work with and consistent… showing up on time (or early) with a good attitude, is probably the most underrated quality that will keep people wanting to work with you! Of course, you have to deliver and have talent, but that means nothing if you do not show up.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best way for me to promote myself is performing… I actually do not promote very much at all except for Instagram, so most of my business is either through word of mouth or from people seeing me perform live.
