We were lucky to catch up with Valerie Herrero recently and have shared our conversation below.
Valerie, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
After many years of working in the marketing field for various companies, I decided to go on my own. The last company I was employed at decided to move the marketing department out of state which helped me take the risk of going on my own. It was perfect timing as my kids were at an age where they needed me and I needed a flexible schedule.
Opening a new business has been challenging but I have been able to grow my clientele and projects within the 2.5 years of being in business. Taking this risk without knowing the outcome is something I have had to adapt to. Thanks to the support of my close family and friends I have been able to pursue my dream.
Taking this risk to achieve my goal requires courage to face the fear of adversity. No matter the outcome, I grow from this and build my confidence. I don’t want to look back in life and say what if. I took this risk and I’m proud of it.
As of today, the business has been a growing and learning process of building relationships and closing deals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
With more than 20 years of experience in all facets of marketing, graphic design, and photography, I have helped numerous South Florida businesses develop strong corporate identities through effective marketing campaigns, creative packaging, branded logos, and memorable corporate events.
In addition to my hands-on marketing approach, I also worked as a designer and art director for a large advertising agency based in South Florida and have developed numerous advertising campaigns for print and Web audiences.
I’m fluent in Spanish and English, I am uniquely positioned to collaborate with companies – if it means expanding into Latin America/Europe or reaching a diverse population here in the United States. In addition, I am equipped with her unique skill set that includes direct experience in sports, foodservice, real estate, and other variegated markets.
As a former college athlete and tennis instructor, I incorporate my own perspective and “spin” on healthy living and positive energy into many of her designs to connect with diverse audiences on multiple levels and drive home bottom-line results for all my clients.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
At times I don’t realize how certain things I do as a creative person come so naturally to me and other people can’t comprehend. Bringing a new idea to life is the most rewarding. While in the creative process of creating a logo, branding, brochure, etc, I feel most inspired to see the vision the customer wants. Once the project is complete, to hear the feedback from the customer that they are satisfied and I was able to do what they wanted is a win in my book.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
You treat people how you want to be treated. Something I learned a long time ago from growing up. This also applies in business. I take a lot of pride in what I do and how I represent myself and I would do the same for any of my clients. I go a step beyond what is expected of my clients. I worked for many different corporations and along the way, I kept in touch with several past colleagues. Once I decided to go on my own, I reached out to my past colleagues and people I had built relationships and that has really helped me grow my business.
