Valérie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

When asked about the sort of legacy I hope to build, my vision is to be remembered as someone who helped others awaken to their true potential and transition from mere survival to a fulfilling, purposeful life. I want people to say that I was a guide, a beacon of resilience and transformation, who inspired them through wisdom, empathy, and the powerful saying: “Own your story and know your history.” I hope to be remembered for my unwavering commitment to empowering individuals to own their story, understand their physical and spiritual history, embrace their journey, and live authentically.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

For those who may not have read about me before, I’d love to share a bit about myself and my journey. I am a resilient coach, author and shaman of Afro-Haitian descent, dedicated to guiding others toward their own awakening. My path to this calling began after I experienced a profound personal awakening, moving from a life of mere survival—marked by physical, emotional, and sexual trauma—to one of purpose and fulfillment. Owning my story has awakened many spiritual gifts that were hidden due to my trauma and false internal dialogue. Understanding my history, which includes that of my parents, ancestors, and my country of origin, Haiti, has reminded me of the strength, courage, and resilience within my DNA. This has inspired me to help others do the same.

In my work, I offer coaching sessions, workshops, and shamanic practices designed to help individuals reconnect with their true selves, overcome obstacles, and live authentically. My services include one-on-one coaching, group sessions, and transformative retreats, all aimed at empowering clients to own their stories, understand their histories—both physical and spiritual—and embrace their journeys.

What sets me apart is my unique blend of modern coaching techniques and ancient shamanic wisdom, combined with Afro-Haitian dance to release the physical blockages that many hold within. I address a range of issues, from personal development and self-discovery to overcoming trauma and building resilience.

I am most proud of the lasting impact my work has on my clients. Seeing individuals awaken to their soul identity, reclaim their spiritual gifts, transform their lives, and step into their power is incredibly rewarding.

The main things I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know about my work are that it is deeply rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a commitment to lasting transformation. My brand is all about guiding individuals to live their most authentic and fulfilling lives by helping them understand and embrace their unique stories and histories.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

One lesson I had to unlearn was that my existence wasn’t wanted. The backstory begins with the realization that I was a child of rape.

For a long time, I believed that the pain inflicted on me was justified because of the circumstances of my birth. This belief was rooted in shame, guilt, and fear, influencing how I presented myself, interacted with others, and approached my work. However, over time, I began to realize that this mindset was slowly killing me.

The turning point came when I survived a suicide attempt. This experience was not only physical but spiritual, and I awoke with the clear hope that I was meant to be here on this planet. Shifting my perspective was a challenging process; it took decades after that first awakening moment to undo the belief of unworthiness to exist. But it ultimately led me to seek to understand who Val truly was and to discover my soul identity.

Unlearning this lesson has been liberating and empowering. It has allowed me to find love for myself and life, and compassion for others, and has significantly impacted how I interact with and acknowledge all the individuals who cross my path. By allowing myself to accept the truth, I have been able to find the courage to venture into the discovery of my potential and gifts.

This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of owning one’s story and knowing our history as an unshakable way to build resilience.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I believe several key factors have helped me build my reputation within my market:

1. Authenticity: Being genuine and true to myself has resonated deeply with my clients and followers. Sharing my personal journey and struggles openly has allowed others to connect with me on a profound level.
2. Empathy and Compassion: My ability to empathize and show compassion has created a safe space for clients to explore their own stories and healing. This has been crucial in building trust and fostering meaningful relationships.
3. Unique Blend of Practices: Combining modern coaching techniques with ancient shamanic wisdom and Afro-Haitian dance has set me apart. This holistic approach addresses the mind, body, and spirit, offering a comprehensive path to transformation.
