We were lucky to catch up with Valerie Delgado recently and have shared our conversation below.
Valerie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
While in retail I met the sweetest soul a women named Becky she was a realtor. I had just started cleaning in my spare time on top of my full time job. She told me Valerie you can do this as a business she said come clean for my parents her dad was partially blind, and her mother was in her last days. Her mother hired me on the spot she said honey you are the one that’s meant to be here! Becky encouraged me to take a leap of faith from the beginning starting with her own parents! They were my 1st recurring weekly account that weekly check in the mail was everything! She always referred me to her clients actually our top biggest account is a referral from her. I thank God for allowing me to be encouraged, and opening the right doors at the right time. Becky saw the potential Im forever grateful for her motivating and linking me up with so many great clients.
Valerie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Yes of course! I started my cleaning business in residential and eventually commercial cleaning, because it fell in my lap at first it was to make some extra money quickly I discovered it could be a full time business after taking some cleaning courses and learning from other successful cleaning business owners it’s been great! I love being my own boss being able to help the community we have all kind of clients from elderly, single parents, busy families, clients who can’t do house work due to medical issues. I love helping our clients to be able to have free time to enjoy what they love while having a clean disinfected home.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes an example of resilience in my business has been when I added commercial cleanings. I would and still do go into businesses, and explain what services we provide and how we can solve their cleaning needs at first it was intimidating lots of rejection, but I didn’t give up I kept going and leaving info talking to the manager following up. I’m a strong believer if u keep shaking the trees fruit will eventually fall! We ended up signing a contract with a well know high end retail commercial account which helped us to gain the neighboring businesses.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being a women owned business working very hard we are constantly learning and improving, we follow up with our clients after new cleans, we check in with our regulars, and guarantee our work. We also have tight communication with our cleaners and our clients. We explain the scope of work to make sure we are on the same page. Lots of hard work, honesty and dedication!
