We recently connected with Valerie Breshears and have shared our conversation below.
Valerie, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I started with finding local organizations. Then, I started selling paintings at events and local businesses. I took classes. Which led to teaching opportunities. Now, I sell at events, teach, and have art for sale at local businesses. I take commissions as well. It all adds up.

Valerie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always been an artist. It has always been a great passion of mine. I went to college for Anthropology, but have ended up back to art. I offer a wide variety of products: Paintings, jewelry, cards, accessories, salves, etc. My art style is very unique. I love bright colors. I am good at painting cartoon characters and scenes. I have been asked to illustrate a children’s book, too.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The Freedom.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I don’t really understand them, lol.
