We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Valeria Gonzalez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Valeria below.
Valeria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
I strongly believe that success is not an endpoint but a continuous journey, just like Valeria, the young entrepreneur. For me, it’s having a clear vision and unwavering purpose aligned with passion. I’m a firm believer in the fact that you have to love what you do in order to truly excel at it. That’s why I’ve dedicated my life to growing not only my business, but everyone within it.
Obviously, being an entrepreneur isn’t always easy. There are moments when things go wrong, deadlines are missed or ideas fail. But these are opportunities to learn and grow rather than to fail. I’ve learnt that failing can be the best way to learn something. Every mistake is a step forward, a new lesson learned. With this approach, I have been able to build a culture in my company where the taking of calculated risks and the learning from them is encouraged.
Inspiration is a crucial part of my approach to work and my approach to life. One person who has inspired me is Barbara Corcoran. Her resilience and ability to turn failure into a stepping stone to success has had a huge impact on my own journey. She’s living proof that no matter where you start, you can succeed with perseverance, determination and an unwavering belief in yourself.
So, to sum up, I believe that success is built on passion, resilience, learning from your mistakes and having a strong sense of purpose. Embrace the journey, learn as you go and always strive to grow – both personal and professional.
Valeria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
By way of introduction, my name is Valeria Gonzalez. I am from the dynamic city of Bucaramanga, located in the heart of Colombia. My parents’ unwavering commitment to their business was a fundamental influence that left an indelible mark on my aspirations and fueled my entrepreneurial spirit.
I found myself well equipped with the theoretical understanding and practical acumen required to succeed in business after graduating with a degree in Business Administration from the prestigious Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. Wanting to embrace new cultures and broaden my horizons led me overseas. It was my firm belief that in today’s globalised world, an international perspective is essential for entrepreneurship. Eventually settling in Charlotte opened up a world full of exceptional opportunities to grow and develop, and laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial journey.
I have ventured into a variety of fields. Today, my primary focus is on real estate, marketing services and, in particular, the import-export arena. Besides guiding investors to profitable property opportunities, my team and I help businesses build a compelling online presence. Recently, we’ve expanded our property portfolio into residential and condominium development. A key element of our strategy is to support small businesses. We believe this has been key to our success and we remain committed to this cause.
What makes us unique is our unwavering commitment to helping our clients grow and succeed. We see ourselves not just as a service provider, but as a growth partner. Our customer-focused approach and constant adaptability to meet our clients’ evolving needs sets us apart. Every solution we deliver is tailored to our clients’ unique goals and challenges, reinforcing our commitment to unlocking their potential.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
My advice for team management and high morale revolves around several core principles. Clear communication is key. Make sure everyone understands their role and the team’s goals. It’s important to recognize and appreciate your team’s efforts, fostering a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Trust and autonomy play an important role, as team members perform better when they have freedom within their roles. Demonstrate your investment in their growth by encouraging and providing for their personal development. Maintaining a positive culture where everyone feels valued and included is essential, as is leading by example to inspire and motivate your team. Finally, team morale can be boosted by an open-door policy that allows team members to freely share their thoughts and concerns.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I have had to unlearn the conventional wisdom that success is the result of a focus on one project at a time. My entrepreneurial journey, since the beginning of 2016, has been a challenge to this conventional wisdom. I started this journey with the launch of Bitemp, an environmental protection company. It was driven by my passion for sustainability. At the same time, I also pursued my other passion – design and decoration. This passion led me to the creation of Bitemp Group Marketing, a venture that was a fusion of my aesthetic sensibilities and business skills.
As a further diversification of my interests, I explored the field of real estate investment while still being in charge of my other initiatives. Contrary to popular belief, I realized that parallel management of multiple ventures was possible if one had the passion and organization skills. But this departure from the norm wasn’t without its challenges, doubts and risks. Despite the steep learning curve, I found the whole process rewarding as I watched my diverse interests grow into successful businesses. This journey has taught me that success isn’t a narrow, one-way street. It’s a multi-lane highway where different passions can coexist, thrive and lead to unconventional success.
