We were lucky to catch up with Valentine Ehonwa recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Valentine, thanks for joining us today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
My story starts with me strategizing on how to invest the least amount of money and make the most. And realizing that I enjoy Real Estate, I decided to invest in properties and Rehab them. Financially I was unable to do it alone, so I had to talk to several close friends into investing into my idea. This took a lot of persuasion and I made a blueprint (diagram) of my idea to show them how things would unfold and what could potentially be coming in if everything goes as planned. I made room in the detailed plans for the unexpected, and Eventually I was able to get people on board and the real hard work began. Finding my first investment property was the hardest, Being a beginner and not knowing much, I had to do a lot of research and asked questions. Eventually I came Across an off-market property that I deemed as Worthy of my ideas. Once the property was purchased, the work began with (Rehab). Getting several contractors for the best price, but still looking for the best quality work was hard. It took several months to get the ball rolling with many up’s and downs along the way, Finally my first investment property was ready for resale. It’s sold right off the back and that’s what encouraged me to keep moving forward and into bringing more ideas to life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I would say Emphasizing the positive experience I’ve provided for clients through the course of time, my practice ethics has also helped, knowing my audience and always delivering as promised. All of this things have helped in shaping my reputation within the industry.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Let me start by saying that all truly resilient people don’t feel that they have an option. For me, there was no room quitting and there were no soft landings and no turning back. So even when I fell & failed, I didn’t have the liberty of staying down because I relied on just myself, my strength and my resilient nature. Those pep talks had to come from within and my next actions/decisions had to be swift and effective, some may call it or se it as resilience but I call it survival.
