We recently connected with Valencia Davis and have shared our conversation below.
Valencia, appreciate you joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My father passed away when I was 6 years old, however he played a major role in my life, all of my life through stories told to me by my mom and family. One of the best things my mother did for me was allowing me to be exactly who I was. It taught me to never change who I am just to please others or just to fit in.
Valencia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am extremely passionate about helping others by providing them with the necessary tools to heal so that they can be the most healthy & authentic version of themselves. I grew up fast and I saw a lot throughout my life. I witnessed mental illness, lack of self-love, low self-esteem, drug use, drug dealing, violence, and abuse all in my family. I saw trauma and experienced trauma very young as I lost my father when I was 6 years old, which set the tone for my trauma.
I was determined to heal my heart, and as I got older and began to do my work on my own heart I became passionate about helping others do the same. Fast forward to me being a mom to 7 children (4 boys and 3 girls) and a wife to an amazing man, I realized I needed to be to my children who I needed when I was younger. Once I began to be all of these things to my children I realized there were others that needed it as well.
I extend a diverse range of services tailored to meet individual needs in my practice. From personalized one-on-one sessions and enriching family sessions to dynamic workshops and impactful speaking engagements, my offerings aim to cater to various personal and relational growth aspects. Additionally, I take pride in presenting my signature program, the “Always Win” workshop, as a unique and transformative experience within the spectrum of services provided.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most helpful thing in this field is being yourself, having empathy and being a good listener. These things matter most especially when it comes to helping others, being genuine is the best way to go.
Any advice for managing a team?
Allowing my team to make mistakes and remind them that they are human and not perfect. I connect with my team on a regular basis with check ins to make sure they are not overwhelmed.
