We were lucky to catch up with V Sidaugaite recently and have shared our conversation below.
V, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to be remembered for my street photography. I’m creating a visual time capsule. I’d love for my photos to allow people to see the beauty around them. The small moments I notice that often overwhelm me with emotion. I want my photos to outlive me and I hope as they age, they become nostalgic.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I picked up a camera when I was little and never put it down. Photography continues to give my life purpose. My work ranges from weddings to products to concerts. In the last few months, my street photography has been going viral on TikTok. I started a series that said, “posting my chicago street photography until somebody recognizes themself in a photo”. Within 3 parts someone had reached out to me that they were the subject of a photo, but everyone really loved the series, so I’ve kept it going. It has been a beautiful thing to have so many people engage with my work.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
I’ve received more photoshoot inquiries from my street photography series than I have from anything else. I’ve learned that you don’t even need to market the exact type of work you do. People are reaching out for all types of photoshoots. Engagements, graduations, events, anything you can think of, without even seeing me share this type of work. You just need to make content that people want to see. Make the content something you enjoy doing. Just let everyone know you exist, where you are, and make it easy to reach you.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I’m hoping to create a catalogue of photos of Chicago throughout my life. I’m taking street photos every week and often reflecting on which ones are really the best of the best. My goal at the end of the decade is to have an amazing collection of photos of the 20s in Chicago. I intend to keep capturing (forever?), but I’m thinking I should just take it one decade at a time.
