Hi V, thanks for joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
After many years as a travel blogger, I was finally able to earn my first affiliate income this year and I cannot explain how happy that made me. It took a lot of hard work and dedication but in the end, using SEO strategies has helped me improve my old posts and write new ones that end up on the first page of Google. There is still a lot of work to be done but seeing the fruits of your labor gives you an enormous motivation to keep going.
V, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi everyone, my name is V Kay and I am the creator behind the Travel Addicted Unicorn travel blog. TAU has been around for 4+ years and it continues to grow. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to over 30 countries and want to help fellow travelers with advice, tips & tricks. My hope is to be able to help other beginner travelers, especially women who are just starting to experience the life-changing freedom of traveling. Also, to inspire them to get out of their comfort zone and see our beautiful world. In the past year or so along with blogging, I have been working on a bunch of different projects. I have opened my very own Etsy shop, where I have a variety of digital products for my fellow travel bloggers. Some of the products are Lightroom Presets, Social Media Templates, and Printables. Recently, I have created some Merch on Zazzle. At this point in time, I have 6 designs that come in a variety of products such as mugs, sweaters, notebooks, etc. I also offer Canva design services. I am super excited to continue checking off my bucket list, creating more products, and helping other creatives with their design needs!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative person is that you get to do what you truly want and love. The best moment is when someone has read your blog post and it has helped them with a travel decision and they email you directly to thank you for sharing that post. Helping others with travel suggestions and recommendations is the reason I keep blogging. Overall, providing high-quality and helpful content that readers find useful is the most rewarding aspect for me.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media is not an easy job due to the ever-changing algorithm. It took me many years to accumulate a decent following. What has helped me tremendously is being consistent and creating a lot of engaging content. Also, you should connect with others in the same niche as you and make sure to reply back to comments and DMs. Keep on top of new trends as well.
