We recently connected with Uri Bialostozky and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Uri, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I have often wondered what it takes to be successful.
Does it take skill? Does it take luck? A higher power? And then how does one then measure their level of success?
These are important questions to think about on your personal journey to success which may differ from person to person.
Here is a list of things that I believe would help anyone on their personal road to success:
- Love & value yourself needs to be first. Without this, you may never be able to acknowledge your success.
- Believe that you can have success today and every day in order to achieve success.
- Be determined to try your best every day at everything that you do.
- Surrounding yourself around like-minded, positive, & influential people will allow you to grow and expand your essence.
-
Not being afraid to ask for advice will ensure you make the right decisions along the way
-
Always use the knowledge you learned today to progress on tomorrow’s goals
-
Do not be afraid to try new ideas or get out of your comfort zone. The only way to develop a skill is by trying it and do not worry about failing or hearing people say not your idea… it’s part of the journey and you will learn a lot from this step in the process.
-
And lastly, never give up on what you’re working on because that is the only way you will surely stop your momentum.
There are many more things to consider but with these few, I mentioned you can start having success at anything you do!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Uri & I am the Co-owner of Wallatees Custom Apparel, a San Diego-based business specializing in Silk Screening and Embroidery as well as promotional products for all types of businesses, corporations, restaurants, & schools all around San Diego and The United States.
Our Story began with silk screen and embroidery but over the pandemic, we began specializing in tradeshow items such as Event Tents, Business Cards, Yard Signs, Vinyl Banners, Postcards, stickers, flags, and many more stationery items that have helped us expand our business tremendously in the past couple of years.
My brother Alan & I started the business in 2016 and have been working very hard to embed ourselves in the San Diego communities to build long-term and healthy relationships. At every opportunity we can, we look for ways to give back to the communities and the people who need it so created the “Walla-Community Program” to help fundraise and donate to any organization that needs printing. With our online stores and fundraisers, we have been able to raise thousands of dollars for countless schools. foundations, clubs, & and even restaurants during the pandemic.
Getting to work with and learn more about the people in San Diego is a big part of why we love what we do and finding ways to help makes things even easier.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that our reputation was built based on the quality of our goods and customer service, which sounds easy to offer, but is something that can go missed by many businesses today.
Since our goal is to build a strong relationship with our community & customers we focus on the strategy of quality and service. We do this by making sure that everything we produce for our clients is something they would love and appreciate and going the extra mile to ensure they receive all of the help they need to get things done right.
At every step of the way, we make sure to communicate and guide our clients into making the right decisions for their business so that they and everyone involved can be happy with their purchases and branding.
Quality over quantity of clients has always been our motto and we believe this is one of the many things that has helped us build our reputation.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe that with these three strategies you can grow your clientele:
-
Outbound sales/email marketing
-
Cold Calling
-
In-person / street sales
Outbound sales & email marketing are great ways for you to get started with sales and growing clientele. You need to do the research, but once you have an email address, you need to be ready to email them with a properly equipt outbound sales campaign showcasing what value you have to offer. Do this over and over again and you will find new clientele will arise as your email campaigns improve.
The second strategy I would suggest is cold calling. With the right touch, you might be able to close a couple of new clients this way. It’s important to have an elevator pitch ready to go with a lot of value and engaging questions. You should always be ready to leave a voicemail so that you do not miss an opportunity to be heard. My suggestion would be to send an outbound cold email or two, then call the person if they still have not replied to your email.
The last strategy I have to offer would be the walk-in or street team strategy which simply means you should go out and try to meet clients in person or in-store. For example, if you have a product you would like to get in someone’s store, I would suggest you go in and ask to speak with the purchasing manager. This strategy helps you step out of your comfort zone and allows you to experience real in-person sales which can be a very valuable experience.
