We recently connected with Uno Montana and have shared our conversation below.
Uno, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
If I’m being real, I feel I’ve been often misunderstood as a person all together not specifically just in music per say. My music has been received with lots of love from the audience, whether it be through social media or at my live shows. I can see the people really connect with my art. That shows me that there are a lot of people in the world that feel misunderstood, and my music serves as somewhat of a voice for them. So now I look at being “misunderstood” as being a representative for the people that don’t fit in, because we were never meant to fit in. God made us different for a reason.

Uno, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always been artistically inclined and my mother is a singer so I was always around music. Music has been my therapy and my way out of self-destruction. Music and God above all things. I provide healing and inspiration to anyone I’m around and people that listen to my music. I provide light to many flowers that never see the light of day, concrete roses. I’m at the front line of making a difference to serve as a reminder. No matter how big or how small, making any difference makes a difference. I think what sets me apart is my versatility and my shear will to keep moving forward no matter the obstacle until my mission in life is accomplished. I’m most proud of my team but if you want me to be specific I can’t be proud until I make it. I’m not proud right now one day I will say I am but I’m not done. For any listeners, be very open minded. Each song represents an allegory of my life. Learn from my music, be better. I push love, positivity, triumph, emotional and spiritual intelligence, etc. I don’t curse or glorify any negativity in my music. I do all genres of music while clashing many different sounds. I have a lot in store and new singles coming out all 2025, stay along for the journey.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A story when I had a huge pivot in my life/career is when I changed the perspectives I had in my music. It starts with me growing up in the church me but I started to lose my way and get involved in the streets like a lot of youth. I started to realize the influence I had not only in my music and in life with the youngsters that look up to me. So God put in my heart that it’s up to me to lead them especially in this time we’re living in. Negativity is being marketed at an exponential rate especially through the music. One of the many quotes I’ve adopted into my every day philosophies of life is “The power of the tongue has the power to speak either life or death, so what are you speaking into the world.” I’m very meticulous on what I talk about in my music because when I was young in the streets and in a gang, rapping about that life, the kids glorified it. I realized if I wanna change the world I must first change myself then the environment around me will change because I lead by example.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate mission in life is to liberate my people from being spiritually enslaved and oppressed by the constructs of this matrix we live in.
