Hi Unknown, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

We see the Unknown Lyric legacy as being one of great thinking outside the box inspiration. Nothing familiar and ordinary ever creates an impression worth remembering. From inception, our mission has been to innovate, trend sett, motivate & inspire. With non-traditional instrumentation being the lead voices of our sound, the bar was already set, by us. We often compete with ourselves to see what the next musical expression could be. We believe people will say we really created our own lane. We believe people will say if they did it, so can we. We want to be remembered for creating a lane that was uniquely ours. We went with what felt good and authentic to us. We followed our hearts and did the dam thing. Of course, we want people to remember us for our music and showmanship as well. If they remember those things, then Unknown Lyric will live on for sure.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi,
We are Unknown Lyric. A violin and acoustic guitar duo out of Atlanta Georgia. With members Kevin Grayson (violin) & Jeremiah Turner (acoustic guitar), we call our musical sound classical fusion. Think Outkast meets Beethoven with the kinetic energy and showmanship of Michael Jackson. Throw a pinch of neo-soul along with the discipline of the New York Philharmonic in as well. We compose original music as well as perform covers of popular songs people may recognize. We record music and make it available for others to listen to and enjoy. Our music is available on most digital music platforms. We are most proud of winning the famed Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night in 2011. One of our proudest moments. We stand apart from others in our industry because we are versatile and have a unique sound that we’ve been told, inspires the listener. We can 808 in an Atlanta trap musik club then jazz it up at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland with a couple weddings and receptions thrown in for good measure. We offer every client that we have had, the Unknown Lyric experience. Enhancing and elevating their event to another level. You have to experience us, and those who do, have become fans and we appreciate each and every one of them.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

We both met about 15 years ago in Decatur Georgia, a city just outside of Atlanta. On the public transportation MARTA bus. Soon after we started performing and entering music competitions and open mics around the city quickly gaining a following. We soon started to travel to various cities around the country and built a substantial fan base in Huntsville Alabama. We went on to perform at the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival and New York’s famed Apollo Theater for it’s Amateur Night which we won. We have done large scale public and private events, community events, talent competitions/shows, schools, birthday parties and weddings. And as they say the rest is history.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Our passion and commitment to excellence helped build our reputation in our market. The musicianship and presentation of our craft helped greatly. You have to deliver when someone books you. From showing up on time to adhering to every and any request a client has. Everything has to be done smoothly without any mistakes. This creates a winning relationship between you and the client that often guarantees you business in the future. Word of mouth is powerful. If you the people speak good things about our business and leave glowing reviews, we have no choice but to be successful. Our appreciation to those who support us is an important part of our business as well.
