We were lucky to catch up with Unity James recently and have shared our conversation below.
Unity, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I had been working in the medical field for seven years at that point and been in the military for 13 years and I wanted something different for myself. I actually started creating and designing things at my house is just way to relieve stress and I started painting on furniture and then I started buying canvases and now I’m into the point where I’m now creating murals. I also was a carpenter and began going to school from carpentry but the canvas kept calling my name! I am currently a full-time entrepreneur. I have a Juice business as well, where I get to really use my creativity not just for clothing and art but also food.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello, my name is unity james and I am the creator of You Got The Juice where our motto is We love you to life one bottle at a time. Our goal is to spread awareness and create solutions for physical, mental emotional and spiritual well-being. We are more than a juice company we provide education and resources for people seeking healing and solutions. I began juicing as a way to help my mother have more energy, but the results that she and I both had was astounding. It was literally the start of my Juice business You Got The Juice. I began to see that juice and healthy food was needed in my community, I realize that high blood pressure and diabetes was the biggest pandemic plaguing my community. I realize it wasn’t just unhealthy food. It was the lack of education that people had in regards to food and self-care. You Got The Juice solves the problem of misunderstanding as it pertains to physical, mental and emotional health. We provide not only holistic approach to healing, but educational classes and resources to help people get a better understanding of themselves.
I am most proud of the creativity that You Got The Juice produces in the ways that it reaches people. I am proud of the amount of people that we have reached and been able to introduce to alternative ways of healing and the lives, we have changed, and I’m proud of how far and how much we have grown since we started !
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of the things that I live by is loving people to life whether that be in food, juice, art or any endeavor I take on I want people to feel life, love and joy and bliss when they view my artwork or when they explore my food or drink my juices!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Last year I applied for a lot of different grants and entrepreneur programs, and I was denied for almost all of them. I was a little upset with myself, thinking that maybe there was something that I wasn’t doing right but this year I took a different approach. I kept recording myself I kept my head held high, and I applied for some of the same grants, and I have been getting accepted for and getting funding and a lot of other things that I would not have gotten if I didn’t decide to push forward and try again .
