Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Undying Faith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Undying, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

In 2019, John Yang, wrote the script for episode one of Undying Faith. Although fictional, the show showcases a world where two characters, Lydia Johnson and Joanna Williams, must live life in a world without freedom of religion. Anyone in the entertainment industry will say making movies is a high risk.

When Tracey, John’s wife, read the script in 2019, she cried feeling that the Holy Spirit was moving her and her husband to make the series. Similar to Tracey, John Yang also felt moved with a need to make Undying Faith.

Since episode one of Undying Faith has been completed, the episode has won numerous awards and received some nominations from some of the top faith based film festivals in the country.

In April of 2023, the official trailer for episode one of Undying Faith was released and accumulated over 80,000 views across all of Undying Faith’s social media platforms. Soon afterwards, Undying Faith’s Facebook page grew to accumulate over 5000 followers.

Some of these followers came from high risk countries with severe persecution against Christians showing that God can use Undying Faith to reach those who need it. Despite the risk associated with filmmaking and completing the project, Undying Faith has been successful so far.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

According to Open Doors USA, there’s roughly 360 million Christians in the world suffering from high levels of persecution and discrimination. Some of these countries include North Korea, Somalia, Yemen, Eritrea, and Libya. However, there are others. Undying Faith is a television show that focuses on Christian persecution in order to bring in awareness.

The story for Undying Faith centers around two girls, Lydia and Joanna, as they must live life in a world without freedom of religion. In the pilot episode, viewers see Lydia and Joanna running for their lives after Red Star soldiers find contrabands hidden within Lydia’s home. In this episode, viewers watch Lydia and Joanna try to survive in a dangerous world. While Undying Faith is fictional, the story does bring issues to life regarding Christian persecution which happens around the world.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

Our number one focus for Undying Faith is to spread the gospel and bring in more awareness about Christian persecution. This can be seen through our characters.

One of the characters in Undying Faith, Altai Yelchin, is a character who is similar to Paul in the Bible. They both persecuted Christians. However, Altai’s beliefs change in the show after he experiences a strange encounter. While the main characters, Lydia and Joanna, show what Christian persecution can look like, Altai shows that no matter what path someone is on, they can always turn around and choose the correct path.

During the show, Joanna Williams stated the following to Altai Yelchin.

“Anyone can be saved through Jesus. Paul was forgiven.” -Joanna Williams

“Paul was one of Jesus’s disciples. Before Paul was a follower of Jesus, he persecuted thousands of Christians. He was very bad. One day on the way to Damascus, Jesus appeared before Paul and blinded him. Paul was blind for three days. In those three days, he didn’t eat or drink, he remained in prayers. One day, Jesus appeared before a Christian by the name of Ananias and told him to seek Paul. At first Ananias objected because Paul persecuted Christians, but Jesus tells Ananias that Paul has been chosen to spread his gospel throughout the world to the gentiles, the children of Israel, the kings. Ananias went to Paul and healed and baptized Paul.” -Joanna Williams

Having both types of characters brings more awareness and offers more relatability to different types of people. In return, we believe this will make a great impact.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Telling stories like Undying Faith is humbling. Our hope is that our works like Undying Faith will help different people around the world. Our goal is that it will be impactful and life changing. Hearing others come to us saying that our program impacted their lives for the better is one of the most rewarding feelings for us as creatives.
