We were lucky to catch up with UNDNBL JAH recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi UNDNBL , thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I made the decision to start a clothing company, I knew I needed a name that would draw attention. I needed something that could accurately depict the lifestyle I want to embody with my designs and creations. As an athlete, everything I strived for came down to becoming so proficient and prolific in every facet of my game that there was no denying my talent or skill. That personal ethos birthed Undeniable Players. A luxury streetwear, lifestyle brand inspired by golden Era/00’s Hip hop, black athletic excellence, revolutionary spirit, and knowledge of self. Undeniable Players is active in everything from fashion, music, athletics, and media. Culture is a word tossed around loosely these days but we endeavor to give our fellow players a refreshing interpretation on how we see society today. Undeniable is re-defining what’s cool. We are about quality and substance. Whether it’s a pair of Undeniable Denim jeans, a new music video, or a blog topic we aren’t releasing anything but our best work.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Undeniable Players is a luxury streetwear & lifestyle brand that offers luxury streetwear, media content, creative design/ collab services, and private basketball skills training ( U.P.A.T )
Undeniable Players was created as a way to express a unique interpretation of society, culture, and knowledge of self. The designs are heavily influenced by 90s and early 2000s hip hop, the BLACK revolutionary spirit, athletic excellence & style. We live by the saying..
“ if you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good”
This brand is reflective of my life experiences traveling the world, searching for knowledge, chasing a hoop dream, and refining style. Naturally, I want to share my love for luxurious clothing ,clean aesthetics, and authentic story telling through multiple mediums…
I’m just a kid from Pasadena, CA that started out as an athlete and blended into a creative. I’m passionate about the art, always dedicated to the work , and confident in my talents. If you can relate to that, Undeniable Players is for you.. If you can’t, we’ll be here when you come around player
Unafraid. Unapologetic. Undeniable
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Before I became a designer and artist, I was chasing an NBA dream. Coming out of high school though, I was not ranked and on no radar for a high major D1 school. That didn’t stop me. I took all the lack of appreciation personally and devoted myself to sacrificing anything necessary to improve my game. I went to train with my trainer Mike Teller 4 days a week outside of school practice. I got up extra shots, did extra workouts, even ate better. My game accelerated at the perfect time during AAU season. I went from zero offers to 14 in 2 months. It was incredible to see my work pay off like that.. Eventually I settled on my biggest offer: University of Wisconsin – The Badgers. A couple final fours and sweet sixteens later, the rest is history. I never gave in and I never gave up in my drea, to play at the Highest level.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I started Undeniable, I had to accept a few hard truths about the business. This industry can get expensive fast and the best laid plans can fall apart at a moments notice. It was hard to be real about that because I’m such an optimist. In my head I just assumed I would make my money back and then some off of the first drop. I thought it would be pretty easy to sell something I was so confident in. Reality showed me fast that being successful in this business means accepting some losses in the growing process. Honestly, I fought it but eventually just changed my perspective. Nothing is accomplished without trying. I can plot and plan all day but in the fashion industry you have to take a risk on your dream. That’s just the start, however. Arguably the most important lesson I learned is that falling in love with the process is the only way to truly find greatness. I’m not there yet but I’m taking risks and showing up everyday to take steps toward my dreams. They just dreams if you don’t work player…
