Uma Alexandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
I am a part of the metaphysical spiritual community where the general community believes in the natural laws of the Universe (think Law of Attraction), energy healing and psychic abilities. I have been in this field over 14 years professionally and over 30 years personally. I have seen firsthand the many changes that have occurred in this community but the biggest one to date is seeing the shift in healing for clients.
When I started, Reiki was a big and common modality as healers used it to bring energetic healing to their clients. Energetic healing was the buzz word in the early 1980s and it became a lucrative business because …..well….everyone had some form of trauma to heal from. Whether it was early childhood, past life or karmic cycles, people were flocking to the Reiki healers and healers of other trades to be healed permanently.
The boom was successful but it slowly petered out….why? Because there is something better than energy healing. I love Reiki and am in fact a Reiki Master Teacher so I believe in the work of Reiki. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing modality that invites in universal energy to a client for betterment and healing of emotional, mental, physical and spiritual issues. It works but despite the best sessions, a client always comes back.
Think of Reiki like gas, it fuels a car and the car runs great until it runs out. If you are not maintaining your reiki flow of energy (self healing or seeing a healer) then it can run out and you can return to the issues you had before.
The industry’s leading lightworkers and practitioners noticed this trend and so the collective conscious was blessed with the question: What can be better than energy healing?
The answer was mindset reset work. We started to see the shift from energy work to mental work with modalities such as hypnosis, past life regressions and access bars….all of which I do!
The mindset reset techniques understand that key concept which says, “Your thoughts create your Reality”. Following that logic, it is understandable that people need to have the right mindset to essentially live this life. So a practitioner could learn the arts of mindset reset work to bring clarity not healing to a client. It wasn’t that they needed to heal from a situation…it was that they needed to understand it. Once understood, the person is well equipped with its own survival instincts to make the necessary shifts to bring about better outcomes. Brilliant yet so simple- change your thoughts to positive if you want to have a great life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Uma Alexandra Beepat and I am a Soul Alignment Coach and Amazon Best Selling Author of “Chronicles of a Spirit Walker”. I am also the CEO of the Lotus and the Light Metaphysical Center and author of The Awakened Life. I provide classes and services in spiritual self-development to help people find their purpose and joy in life.
I have always been a psychic medium but did not professionally offer my services until 2009 when I had what is called a ‘Spiritual Awakening’. My aim with the work I do is to elevate the consciousness of individuals so they can live from their highest self thereby elevating the consciousness of the planet.
I am proud to be a POF Top Badge and Tik Tok streamer because I use my platforms to speak out on mental health awareness and women’s empowerment issues. I adore my fans and Lotus Lounge family members for believing in me and supporting the platforms I stand on.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
At one point in my life I decided to open a massage school to train future massage therapists. I opened it in 2017 and while it was a lucrative opportunity, it was a lot of work. I have to renew the school license every summer and I remember in July 2019 I was hit a very strong urge not to renew the license. I struggled with this decision for a bit but then decided to close the school down, I wasn’t sure why but I knew there was a bigger reason so I trusted and let it go.
Even though I closed the school I still had the suite in addition to having my suite for my metaphysical center. In March 2020 I was filled with a strong urge to rent out one of my suites. I found two estheticians who wanted the top suite so I moved into the suite which was once a massage school. Literally two weeks later, the pandemic hit and we were all quarantined. I managed to skip the headache of dealing with school issues and save money by downsizing.
For me this pivot came unknowingly because I had no idea why I was being asked to change, I just trusted. That is my advice to all new business owners, you have to trust that gut feeling and do it when everyone else is questioning you. Your gut will not lie to you, trust it and thrive.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I am a dynamic social media personality because of my reputation. I am known as the OG Spiritual Gangsta because I will tell you my observations but in a love and light kind of way. I am a truth teller but I don’t believe in unnecessarily hurting people. If you are psychic and intuitive, it is easy to see the true makeup of a person or see the energy of a thing. Just having that knowledge is not enough though, you need to know how to communicate it. If you don’t have proper communication skills, the whole message could be lost on a person then what good was your input?
People like supporting me because I help them with my words, theories, thoughts and ideas. It is fresh, it is different but it also resonates and heals.
People have seen me go toe to toe with internet bullies and trolls and sometimes my words have the power to change them from an angry person to emotional. Does it hurt to have someone hurl insults at you? Of course! but I focus on the bigger picture which is we are all Love.
So…what helped me build my reputation? My positivity, my inability to give up on people and my habit of always looking at the bigger picture. You don’t have to have a brand when you are the brand.
