We recently connected with Ulises Lara and have shared our conversation below.
Ulises, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I started my photography and video career as a skateboarder in high-school with my friends. We would always film and take pictures to drop content online, instead of focusing on school. Something about being able to create something out of nothing was addicting, same as skateboarding. I knew this was something I can keep doing and expand my growth, so eventually I bought my own camera to show my own perspective and for others close by me. This was the start of me thinking outside of the box and instead of filming skateboarding only I started to film and take pictures of everything and everyone. This was the beginning behind starting my company emperor visuals.

Ulises, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After my skateboarding career started to slow down and wanted to keep myself busy in the creative side. So I started to reach out to others if they needed a photographer for birthday, events or businesses and started to be able to charge for my services. It kind of happened quickly, but I think it was because I threw myself out there and wasn’t scared to keep learning. I learned my biggest perk was my communication and making others comfortable when working together. I am most proud that I’m able to provide great customer service and that’s what I think a good business is.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
My favorite thing about having a camera is, I can do anything from food to landscapes to portraits. So technically you don’t have to just do one thing and can provide multiple services. My favorite is definitely being able to travel and capture those moments and of course who doesn’t like food
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly being able to do new things is always driving me. I think being Able to challenge yourself or trying something new and learning it is one of the best experiences someone can ask for. The sky is the limit.
