Tzur, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Throughout my life, the quest for profound authenticity has been the driving force behind my pursuit of an extraordinary and unconventional existence. This journey of self-discovery and transformation reached a pivotal moment in 2012 when I made the decision to attend a healing festival led by Donny Epstein in Denver. This experience would irrevocably alter the course of my life.
In the period leading up to this transformative event, I was engaged in a unique form of chiropractic care known as Network Spinal Analysis (NSA). Unlike traditional chiropractic methods, NSA employs a gentle touch technique on the spine, signaling the nervous system to awaken the body’s inherent self-healing capabilities. This approach is grounded in the belief that our nervous systems are intricately linked to a universal network, with NSA serving as the bridge connecting the two.
The culmination of this journey occurred in Denver, where I had the privilege of being treated by Donny Epstein himself. This encounter rekindled my belief in the miraculous, instilling in me a renewed sense of wonder and the realization that life is imbued with magic. From that moment forward, I embraced the idea that we are all capable of creating magic, learning to appreciate the beauty that lies in life’s uncertainties rather than seeking solace in predictability.
This profound experience has been a beacon of inspiration, continually reminding me that the essence of life is magical and that we, as individuals, possess the power to shape our realities. It taught me to relinquish my attachment to certainty, for it is within the realm of the unknown that the true magic of life unfolds.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tzur, with a silent ‘T’ and a rolled ‘R’—a personal mnemonic I adopted because my name often stumped those I met, a quirk that became a part of my identity since I was ten. That year marked a significant turn in my life’s journey when my family uprooted from our homeland to chase the American Dream. One sunny afternoon in August 1990, my father broke the news: we were moving to America, and I had to bid farewell to my childhood friends. The very next day heralded our departure, and by early September, I found myself navigating the unfamiliar corridors of a new school in 5th grade.
My father, an electrician by trade, found his calling in the nursing homes of Chicago, where he spent countless hours. It was during the weekends, accompanying him on emergency calls, that I first glimpsed the world of healthcare. As we walked the halls, he would share stories of the residents—each tale a window into their lives and a spark igniting my desire to heal.
Dentistry entered my life through a similar conduit of familial influence. Transitioning from electrician to contractor, my father began constructing dental offices, inadvertently paving my path into the dental field. It was one of his clients, Dr. Yahav, who offered me a glimpse into the profession by allowing me to shadow him, setting the stage for my future career.
Today, I stand as a specialist in my field, a practicing Prosthodontist and implant surgeon. Alongside my wife, I am on the cusp of launching PRIMARY, a Holistic Oral Wellness Center poised to revolutionize dental care by positioning dentists at the forefront of our health journey. With the understanding that dental visits occur far more frequently than doctor’s appointments, PRIMARY aims to leverage these encounters as opportunities for comprehensive health education and preventative care. Our vision extends beyond mere dental health, aspiring to use oral wellness as a conduit for enhancing overall well-being.
Reflecting on my journey from Israel to America, from a curious child in the hallways of nursing homes to a pioneer in holistic dental care, I am filled with pride. Not just for my professional achievements, but for my capacity to persevere, to love, to foster unity and connection, and to build the community I’ve yearned for since my departure in 1990.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
In my journey through the healthcare field, I’ve come to realize that the pillars of authenticity, vitality, and connection are not just important—they are essential. These values guide not only my personal growth and professional behavior but also significantly impact the experiences and outcomes of those I have the privilege to serve.
Authenticity for me goes beyond just being sincere in my interactions; it’s about a genuine commitment to my calling as a healthcare provider. This authenticity helps build trust and rapport with my patients, creating a safe environment where they feel truly seen, heard, and valued. When I approach my work with authenticity, I find myself more engaged in empathetic communication, making ethical decisions, and passionately advocating for my patients’ well-being. This genuine approach ensures that the care I provide is not only competent but also compassionate, tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of each individual.
Vitality is the dynamic energy and passion I bring to my work every day. It’s about maintaining an enthusiasm for learning and an eagerness for innovation, which are crucial in the ever-evolving field of healthcare. This vitality drives me to pursue continuous improvement, both in my personal skills and in the healthcare systems I am a part of. This relentless pursuit of excellence ensures that the care I deliver remains cutting-edge, responsive, and effective. Moreover, a vibrant healthcare environment not only stimulates recovery but also encourages my patients to adopt a proactive stance towards their health and wellness.
Connection is the essence of the healthcare experience for me. It represents the deep, meaningful relationships that develop between me and my patients, as well as with my colleagues. These connections are at the heart of compassionate healthcare delivery. They enable me to understand my patients beyond their symptoms, seeing them as whole individuals with unique stories, challenges, and aspirations. This deep sense of connection fosters a collaborative approach to healthcare, where decisions are made with mutual respect and understanding, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and more fulfilling experiences for everyone involved.
In essence, authenticity, vitality, and connection are not just abstract ideals; they are the very core of my practice in healthcare. They inspire me to be not just a better healthcare provider, but a better human being.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Embracing vulnerability has been a transformative journey for me, one that has profoundly shaped my reputation in ways I could never have anticipated. Initially, the notion of vulnerability conjured images of weakness or exposure to judgment. However, as I delved deeper into my personal and professional life, I discovered that vulnerability is, in fact, a source of strength and authenticity that fosters genuine connections and trust.
In my professional endeavors, allowing myself to be vulnerable meant openly sharing my uncertainties, mistakes, and learning experiences with my colleagues and patients. This openness was not always easy; it required a conscious effort to overcome the fear of being perceived as inadequate. Yet, it was this very act of sharing my true self, with all its imperfections, that broke down barriers and built a foundation of trust and respect. My colleagues and clients could see that I was human, just like them, navigating challenges and striving for growth. This realization fostered a collaborative environment where honesty and support thrived, enhancing our collective ability to achieve our goals.
Being vulnerable also meant being receptive to feedback, whether positive or constructive. It involved actively listening and valuing others’ perspectives, even when they challenged my own views or exposed areas for improvement. This openness to feedback has been instrumental in my personal and professional development, allowing me to refine my skills, expand my knowledge, and adapt my approach to better meet the needs of those I serve.
Moreover, vulnerability has enabled me to lead with empathy and compassion. By acknowledging my own struggles and emotions, I became more attuned to the feelings and needs of others. This empathetic leadership style encouraged a culture of mutual support and understanding within my team, enhancing our collective resilience and capacity to navigate adversity.
In sharing my journey and the lessons learned along the way, I’ve been able to connect with others on a deeper level. These connections have not only enriched my personal life but have also extended my professional network in meaningful ways. People are drawn to authenticity and the courage to be vulnerable; it inspires them to embrace their own vulnerabilities, creating a ripple effect of growth and empowerment.
In essence, vulnerability has been a cornerstone of my reputation. It has transformed me from someone who once viewed vulnerability as a liability into a person who sees it as a profound source of connection and strength. By embracing my vulnerabilities, I have built a reputation as a trustworthy, empathetic, and resilient individual, capable of leading with authenticity and compassion. This journey has taught me that vulnerability, when wielded with intention and care, can be one of the most powerful tools for building meaningful relationships and a respected
