We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tysha Porter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tysha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Originally, I started my business in 2015. I don’t believe, I realized my true potential back then. As time progressed, I realize how much I enjoyed baking and how much it eased my mind. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and started servicing other people who weren’t familiar to me, like my family and friends. That led to the clientele I have today. My customers have become my family, as I grow in business, they’ve grown with me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Honestly, I started off just baking for a family event. I never thought it would eventually turn into a business. I slowly walked into. Unexpectedly, but I grew into it and I fell in love with it. Baking taught me discipline within myself. At one point I wanted more, two years later, I received my diploma and that pushed me even harder and helped me believe in my craft.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
That God qualifies the unqualified. I’ve learned to never limit myself according to someone else’s standards or version of me. There are things and habits that I have to shed like dead skin. There are also so many opportunities, resources and open doors for me. The sky is the limit for what God has in store for me.
