We recently connected with Tysen Knight and have shared our conversation below.
Tysen, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
As a kid sitting on the roof as planes flew over my head as I drew comics, I knew I was always going to be an artist!
Four years ago I took a risk leaving my job to paint full time. I left the security of a weekly paycheck as a Master Barber to zero income coming in. Lots of sleepless nights pondering did I make the right choice taking this huge risk. A couple of days later I woke up one morning to my astonishment to a 25,000 dollar loan that was instantly approved for which I started my artistic journey.

Tysen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Tysen Knight is an International Artist, Muralist, Award Winning Filmmaker. He is most popularly known for his street art based on the Buddha’s teachings and pop art sense. From his “Urban Desert Palms and Icons” bench painting technical direction of artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Warhol, Keith Haring, Frida Kahlo to his his new series of “Masterpiece Mash-ups,” Tysen pushes the limits of creativity by remixing his artwork to create unique and beautiful masterpieces using his version of classics from artists such as Picasso, Basquiat and Warhol.
Knight got into the industry by securing his first public arts project, “Street Bench Art Pilot’ conceived by the Palm Springs Public Arts Commission, the City Council Downtown Subcommittee, and Main Street Palm Springs, which involved decorating the benches throughout Palm Springs.
Knight has worked with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity to build homes for the less fortunate. He he also been involved in activities like preparing meals alongside Midnight Mission for the homeless and mentoring at risk youth to pursue arts at no cost through his Tysen Knight Scholarship Fund.
How did you build your audience on social media?
How I’ve built my audience on social is just being authentic in my artwork and creativity. Buying ad space on social media platforms should be in your plans and budget. Organically grow your audience by posting meaningful content and follow other creators for inspiration. “I don’t post just to post, I create value with every post.”

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission and goal is to develop an interactive program to mentor at risk youth on how to express themselves artistically. And to learn more about myself so I can inspire others to do the same.
