Tyrus Ceo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
As entrepreneurs there’s no growth without taking risk. We took the biggest risk of our lives at the time by letting go of the biggest blessing that has ever happened to us – our brick and mortar storefront and decided to go fully e-commerce. From the outside it may look crazy or like we may have failed but we do nothing, without a plan. The plan was to target more people, create more revenue and also reach more people and the best way to do that nowadays is online. So to all of the entrepreneurs out there, we say take that risk and stand on it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Tyrus Ceo and Daniel Pinckney created an amazing business plan which lead to them winning a $55,000 grant back in 2019. The grant allowed them to open their clothing store in downtown Lake City in July of 2020 despite the pandemic. They started off as a resell and vintage shop but after 2 years they began working on their own brand. In July of 2022 they launched “Top Notch The Brand” and fully transitioned to an online clothing store. Top Notch The Brand is a Unisex street wear clothing brand. Their brand has a vintage feel built on love, positivity, creativity and encouragement.
With the their store being online now they were able to launch their 2nd business, “Top Notch Consulting”. This new business venture will focus on coaching and mentoring upcoming entrepreneurs who are starting, developing and executing their business ideas.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
We use Shopify and it’s many features to create the design of our store as well as design and ship our products. Shopify also has marketing tools that allow you to customize the way customers see your products on your website and on social media. Also, Shopify is only $30 a month. We highly recommend it for anyone looking to start a clothing brand.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
In Entrepreneurship you are forever a student. We recommend reading the books: “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki, “ How to Win at the Sport of Business” by Mark Cuban and “Act Like a Success Think like a Success” by Steve Harvey. We also study the teachings of Myron Golden. He teaches us what the bible says about business and how to apply biblical principles to our business
