We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyrik Wynn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tyrik, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s one of the most important lessons you learned in school?
In December of 2018 I started my business, Wynn Productions LLC which is a video production company based here in Metro Atlanta. Earlier that year, I started school at Georgia State University. When I started I was itching to get involved with organizations that were related to my field. I joined student media at Georgia State and when I joined I learned how to edit, on camera presence, how to work cameras and more. Learning these skills helped me tremendously within my business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am 22 years old and a recent graduate of Georgia State University. I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism. I’m a national television journalist on the hit television show Fatal Attraction on TV ONE. I have been with Fatal Attraction since May. A lot of people told me that since I was fresh out of college I was not going to be able to go into national television, but I did not listen to the naysayers, I defied the odds and went after what I wanted.
At 14 years old I wrote a book called “Green Is The Thing! Money Management For Kids,” a book that teaches kids how to make, save and manage money at a young age. During the quarantine in 2020 I wrote another book called “How To Create Your Own TV Talk Show,” a book to teach people how to create their own content and get it on TV.
Earlier this year I knew I was on track to graduate from Georgia State debt free so in January I bought my first investment property. I’ve always been told one of the best ways to set up for retirement is to go into real estate, and that’s exactly what I did. My parents and I fixed it up and my 1st tenant moved in this past summer.
I am the owner/CEO of Wynn Productions LLC, local video production company based in Metro Atlanta. We specialize in television commercials, television shows, video business cards, drone/aerial filming, event filming, customer testimony videos and more. We solve marketing problems for our clients. Nowadays you have to pay top dollar for television marketing, at Wynn Productions LLC we make it affordable for small business owners. We give you opportunities to put your business in front of tons of people for an affordable price.
At Wynn Productions LLC we also have several shows that we film and produce, some of those shows are “What’s Your Business,” “The Sugar Tooth Show,” “Tyrik On The Move” and more. “What’s Your Business is a show where I feature some of the best businesses in town. “The Sugar Tooth Show” is a show where I showcase some of the best dessert eateries. “Tyrik On The Move” is a show where I interview some of the hottest celebrities and cover some of the hottest events. Earlier this year we signed a deal and landed “What’s Your Business” on a local television station here in Atlanta. Right now we are taping season 2 of “The Sugar Tooth Show and that will air on television within the next coming months.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
In 2016 I was passionate about going into the media industry and I wanted my own syndicated talk show so I told my parents and I said let’s go to ABC, FOX or CBS and tell them I want a TV show. Unfortunately, they told me that is does not work like that and that I should start on YouTube and get discovered through there. I started my talk show ‘Tyrik On The Move” in August of 2016 and I started doing interviews with people and other random stuff on the show. at first the show was not very good and my ratings were pretty bad too. A few months later one of my Facebook friends saw what I was doing and they asked me to come out to their event, interview some people and put the content on my show and they would pay me. I was thrilled, that was the 1st $100 I made from my show and I was so glad that I finally made some money. When I realized I could start making some money, I got more consistent with my content and I figured out how I could make the show better and then it clicked, I should see if I can start interviewing celebrities on my show. I reached out to a whole bunch of celebrities to interview and I only received a few yeses and I took that ran with it and once I started interviewing celebrities my ratings increased and I was so happy, that’s when I got really serious. May parents saw that I was serious about my craft and that’s when they told me “Son, we see that you are serious about this industry, so when you turn 18 we will create a business and get you an LLC.” When they told me that, I got really excited and by December of 2018, I had my very own LLC. Not only did I get my own LLC, my parents funded my business. They got me cameras, lights and mics. Once they got all of that we started doing small commercials for people, made a little money and took that money, put it back in the business so it could continue to grow and we got more equipment, did more marketing and more, and that’s how I got the funding for my business and I thank my parents so much for investing in my future.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Within my business, doing television commercials actually is marketing, and of course we have our own commercials for the company, but a part of me has always wanted to tap into a different arena of marketing at that is billboards. I met someone who owned a local billboard company here in Georgia and that was when I had the opportunity to do some billboard marketing. The owner and I sat down and talk about some things and we ended up bartering services. He gave me billboard ad space on a digital billboard in exchange for video production for his company. When I saw my company being advertised on a billboard, my face lit up with joy knowing that millions of people on a daily basis would pass by my billboard.
