Tyressia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I wonder sometimes what it would be like to have a regular 9-to-5 job. The crazy thing is, I’ve never actually had a traditional job, so I don’t know what that experience is like firsthand. But even with the occasional curiosity, I honestly feel like I’m just not meant for that kind of work environment. You know when you just have that gut feeling? It’s like I’m meant to keep creating, leading, and building something that’s entirely my own.
Being a business owner has its challenges, but there’s this unique freedom and fulfillment that comes with being able to say, “I built this.” I feel like I’m destined to be in charge of my own path—to keep girl bossing for the rest of my life! It’s not just about the hustle; it’s about the creativity, the connections, and the impact I can make when I’m in control of my journey. Do you ever feel that way? Like you were made for more than the regular mold?
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Digital Marketing Strategist and a Brand and Web designer passionate about helping individuals and businesses elevate their presence and scale their success. My design journey started in 2019 at a networking event where I got to design my own business card. That sparked a deep curiosity for the creative process, and I’ve been building my skills and expertise ever since. By 2022, I officially launched my design business, and the rest is history!
I specialize in creating brand identities and strategies tailored to my clients’ unique needs. Whether it’s a new logo, a cohesive branding strategy, or a custom website, I help my clients tell their stories in visually compelling and impactful ways. I also offer marketing services to help businesses grow and connect with their audiences effectively.
One of the key problems I solve for my clients is clarity—helping them define who they are, how they stand out, and how to communicate that to their audience. What sets me apart is my ability to blend strategy with creativity. I focus on the bigger picture, ensuring that every design and marketing decision aligns with the client’s goals. I also work closely with my clients, building partnerships rooted in collaboration and trust.
I’m most proud of the impact I’ve been able to make—not just on businesses but on people’s confidence in their brands. Watching a client light up when they see their vision brought to life is priceless.
If there’s one thing I’d want potential clients and followers to know, it’s that I’m deeply committed to helping you succeed. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting, I aim to create solutions that not only look great but also drive results.
I’d love to connect with more individuals ready to take their brands to the next level—because when you grow, we all grow!
Have you ever had to pivot?
For most of my life, I genuinely believed I was destined to become a prison officer. It just felt like my calling at the time, though I honestly can’t pinpoint exactly why. Looking back now, I can laugh at how certain I was, even though that path was so far off from who I truly am. Eventually, reality hit, and I realized that being a prison officer definitely wasn’t the right career path for me.
From a young age, I’ve always been creative, but I wasn’t sure exactly how to channel that creativity into a career. My first venture was in cosmetology, where I explored my passion for beauty and self-expression. That led me to launch my own lip care line, which was an exciting chapter in my journey. As I worked on designing my marketing materials and planning campaigns for my brand, something clicked—I found myself completely captivated by the process.
That’s when I knew designing and marketing were my true calling. It wasn’t just about making things look good; it was about storytelling, building connections, and helping brands find their voice. This pivot into design and marketing felt like everything I’d been searching for, and I haven’t looked back since.
Every step of my journey taught me something valuable, and I’m so grateful for the twists and turns that brought me to where I am today. It’s proof that sometimes you have to explore different paths before finding the one that truly lights you up.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think one of the biggest things non-creatives might struggle to understand about the journey as a creative is the depth of thought and emotion that goes into what we do. Creativity isn’t just about making something “look nice” or “stand out”; it’s about problem-solving, storytelling, and connecting with people on a deeper level. Every design, every idea, every project is a piece of yourself that you’re sharing with the world.
One of the most challenging parts of this journey is that inspiration and motivation aren’t always constant. There are days when the ideas flow effortlessly, but there are also times when the creative well feels dry. The pressure to always deliver something unique, impactful, and on-brand can be overwhelming. It’s not just a job—it’s a part of who we are.
Another thing non-creatives might not realize is how much strategy is involved. Creativity isn’t just about being artistic; it’s also about being intentional. Whether I’m designing a logo, planning a marketing campaign, or building a brand identity, I’m constantly thinking about the goals, the audience, and the impact. It’s a balance of art and logic, and that takes a lot of thought and energy.
But despite the challenges, being a creative is incredibly rewarding. There’s no feeling quite like seeing your work make a difference for someone—whether it’s helping a client bring their vision to life or seeing how your work resonates with others.
If there’s one insight I’d share, it’s this: being a creative is about so much more than what’s on the surface. It’s about heart, resilience, and the constant pursuit of growth. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
