We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyree Lomax a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tyree, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
GetReeBuilt is a company founded in 2020 during Covid. I have always had a love and passion for fitness and during Covid, I had a lot of downtown to chase my goals to become a personal trainer. I started with 6 clients and that number grew from there. The slogan for my company is Rebuilding from the Core Starting from the Mind. What distinguishes my company from others is the personal care, love, and support you receive when you sign on as a client. I not only care about your fitness goals, but I am here to help you as a person. I pay attention to my clients and never treat them like they are a number. I learn about them, their families, and their jobs, and their goals. I focus on building my clients to be their overall best and understand that sometimes it’s harder to do when things are heavy on your heart and mind. My goal is to optimize you as a person.
What I get most excited about is having the opportunity to help people obtain their goals and walk through their journey with them. I learned very early in my career that people cannot be their best when they have things bogging them down. When I notice the energy shift, I have them take a second to decompress. We do stretching, take a walk, and do deep breathing exercises to help them to center themselves. Once they are relieved, we refocus and we are able to have an optimal workout session together.
Tyree, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into this business to help people achieve their goals. I love what I do. I don’t ask anything of my clients that I am not doing myself. I provide personal one-on-one and group training. I help my clients to target certain areas and to improve their overall health. I create plans designed for each individual based on their goals and needs. I think what sets me apart is that I am very personable. My clients are like family to me. I promote healthy eating as well as the training portion. I encourage meal prepping to help with portion control and healthy eating. I am proud of the fact that all of my clients genuinely like me. They trust me to have their best interest at heart. My future goal is to set up an online training platform, but that is still a work in progress.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me is social media. I continuously post videos of myself working out and of my clients. I like to post before and after pictures of my clients so people can see what I am doing works. I like to think these videos encourage people to reach out to me. I also like collaborating with other fitness-minded individuals. I like that this also helps to get my name out in the fitness world. My other best source is word of mouth.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
My number one means of communication with my clients is texting and phone calls. I use social media as well, but I like the personal touch. As I said previously, my clients are like family to me. We have more than a client/trainer relationship. we have a friendship.
