We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyra Gardner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyra, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
There are times in life that may require us to step out on faith and take risks. As a business owner, the initial leap into entrepreneurship can cause fear of the unknown due to financial areas- “guaranteed” paycheck from 9-5 at someone else’s company. I have always had the entrepreneurial gene and working for others was my comfort zone until it became uncomfortable. I became more educated and more experienced in a variety of areas which increased my marketability and i had to make a choice- stay stuck or take a risk, I chose to move on and it has been the best experience i have ever made.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am most proud of how I make people feel when I help them become the best version of themselves.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the Pandemic, I had to pivot my therapy business in order to help more people. As I was meeting potential clients the number one problem people were having was how to start a business and how can I make more money. I recession proofed my life over 20 years ago being laid off from the same job twice and creating new financial opportunities for myself in other industries for example Licensed Nail Technician, Educator, Tax Prepare. I was able to create seven streams of income and now was my time to transform, inspire and educate others to do the same.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back I would probably choose the same profession however in undergrad I would have focused more on obtaining dual Degree in Psychology and Business Administration.
