We were lucky to catch up with Tyneisha Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tyneisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Savory Delights started in 2019 but wasn’t llc official until 2020 after having my daughter. It started with desserts in a cup and making a few cakes, to selling plates of all different foods. I didn’t go full time with my business until November 2020 and it was the best decision I made for myself and my kids. Business was picking up by word of mouth and social media. Then came February 2021 when I sampled out making birria tacos. What I seen was something small no big deal quickly became the talk of town and very popular and still is currently 2023. My business went from just a couple hundred to a few thousand and growing.

Tyneisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into this industry just making desserts, really just looking for a side hustle to make extra money. Then I advanced to selling plates of food but always cooking something different and customers loved it. Savory delights quickly became my business like having a child that I pride in. Seeing the reviews, the smiles on customers faces after they take that first bite grew confidence and more in me. Seeing how my customers would support and stand in lines for long periods of times boosted my ego and I loved it. They will support anywhere and everywhere and that’s nothing I would trade it for.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
One of the most things I did to build my clientele on social media at the beginning, I would tell ALL my customers to please tag me and leave a review. What this automatically did was introduce savory delights to their timeline. And after a month it worked and I seen the progress.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes my original side hustle became my full time job. Something that was used just to make a few extra bucks became a main stream. Now I self birthday/event cakes, sell food, & sell my own sauce that my customers absolutely love. Which I do have a website for. Www.cookingwithsavory.com.
