Tyneida, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Urban Travel Experience (UTE) I like to say the idea came to me from none other than God. I always felt like life was bigger than just your town or community and being where I’m from born in Newark, NJ and raised in East Orange NJ which are both urban communities. Growing up in an urban community opportunities are limited and finances are tight, so it’s very rare that children get the experience of other states and countries through travel. Also with parents just having limited time due to maintaining a work schedule to sustain a living for their child/children as well as themselves. I thought what if these experiences (other states and countries) could be recreated and brought to our inner city children?! Well it’s never been done I thought to myself. And this is where the journey all began to unfold est:2015. I had so many emotions about Urban Travel Experience I was excited, happy, anxious, scared, nervous, and overwhelmed. Even with all these emotions running through me at once I was confident I knew this assignment was tailored made for me and I must fulfill the purpose, I couldn’t shake the idea of Urban Travel Experience no matter how many times I tried, when I felt like I’ve failed or been defeated. It was like a calling the idea to stuck with me and I began to put action behind it, UTE would not leave me! I felt like by creating this non profit organization it would bridge the gap of cultural differences and open the minds of our urban inner city community children.

My name is Tyneida Alanos I was born in Newark NJ and raised in East Orange NJ where I currently reside and work. About my professional history i’m an enthusiastic caring educator who is certified as highly qualified. With 10 years of early childhood experience in the learning disabled and autism components. I attended and graduated West Side High school located in Newark NJ, where I earned my high school diploma 2009. I then went on to Union County College to purse an associates degree in nursing, while i’m currently pursuing a degree in business management at Union County College located in Cranford, NJ. I would describe myself as a person that’s very caring with an extremely big heart! This is what makes me believe and act on Urban Travel Experience so strongly it’s as simple as the 5 W’s and H here”s mine: (with a twist 3 W’s and a H)

Who? Urban Travel Experience is a non-profit organization that provides services for the inner city youth communities of Essex County N.J.

What? Urban Travel Experience provides a travel experience through recreating cities, states, and countries. All while providing an educational and fun experience through cultures, food, and all things that make these cities, states, countries historical staples in the world!

Why? To provide an outlet for experience through travel and open the minds as well as expand the horizons of our inner city community children of Essex County NJ encouraging our youth to dream big and create lifelong experiences.

How? Through personal funding by the CEO/founder of Urban Travel Experience as well as community and grant funding.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I love my family deep and dearly from the bottom of my heart, but when I first started the journey of bringing Urban Travel Experience into fruition they were supportive but they also had those looks of fear and concern as if I were crazy. Why I say this is because they thought to leave my stable job as a Teacher assistant for a startup business was pretty risky. However with doubts fears and outside pressures of awaited failure, I continued on staying resilient accomplishing in 2018 registering Urban Travel Experience as an official non-profit organization business in the state of New Jersey. That happened by remaining resilient and true to God and myself.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?

I’m always on the hunt for things to expand my mind as well as inspire me so I like to watch interviews, motivational videos, and podcast. Here are some that inspire me million dollars worth of game (podcast), Jay-z, Nipsey Hussle, Tupac Shakur (interviews), Eric Thomas (motivational videos). I feel like these help me in learning and growing in an aspect of business where relatable people that look like me have successfully made it.
